As per some news, this train was cancelled atleast a month earlier due to shortage of spare parts.

Availability Status is however shown 01/10/2012 onwards.

Sir, Even I have a confirmed ticket on this rail motor on Oct 13th. Does anyone know whether this train has resumed its operations??

this train mostly runs on season.. during off season often stands cancelled .

once tickets r booked, they shouldnt be cancelled for seasonal reasons na

no official connectivity...if kalka mail is right time you may board it,but the buffer is too less for a train running more than 30 hours...the only official connectivity of hwh dli kalka mail is shivalik deluxe from kalka...until kalka mail arrives,shivalik doesnt depart...

anyhow are we able to catch Kalka Shimla Express/52453 ? because we specifically like to travel into FC rather than CC class

because actually this Kalka Shimla Express/52453 is departing after shivalik deluxe. so are there any chance to get this conn, as it has FC class in it.

72451 is a bit risky at 5:10am..!!

you may catch the train,but the first class is in pitiable condition. Why are you reluctant to shivalik? A chair car of shivalik is much better than sitting first class of passenger. No privacy too as it has wide windows and stops at all the stations enroute. Not sure if it even has curtains........

Is it sitting in FC ??
I thought it will be little bit similar to like BG FC, where our seperate 2 sleeper seats box with door and all.

this is the first class sitting accomodation...please check it out for yourself...

how can you expect sleeping accomodation in narrow gauge dear? that too in first class where a space for pasage and partition also has to be created in case of first class? in metre gauge, the sleepers can just managa without side berths with great difficulty...leave apart narrow gauge...the chair cars of narrow gauge in case of shivalik deluxe is 2X1

i cant remember sir...i had travelled in chair car of shivalik...it is just that the blogger expected sleeping accomodation in first class and so i had to post this pic...

I have travelled in 2S, that was horrible..!!
The FC of KLK SML Pass and Rail Motor are very comfortable..plus Shivalik's Delux's CC is awesome too..!!

this is the CC of Himalayan Queen..uncomfortable and over crowded..!!

Though i will be not travelling in the Toy Trains after an horrible experience last time i travelled..will go by road this time to Shimla..cheaper, simple, easy & quick..!!

Yeah..its tough to get food on that stretch..means you have to eat something at Kalka and then sit in this train for 5 hrs..!!
By road takes around 1.5hrs..much more scenic..!!

Around 2 to 2.5 hrs..!!
Nowadays there is a new highway between Chandigarh & Shimla..heard its quite scenic and a faster way to reach Shimla..will be checking that out later this month..!!

This is the only better trains on this route..much more comfortable..this is the Shivalik Deluxe with its 7 Chair Car Coaches..!!

Last time when i travelled i got breakfast at Solan and also train had stopped for around 10 minutes there.

but when i travelled in january 2011 on klk sml shivalik deluxe, the breakfast was provided at barog...it was non stop at solan...water bottle, newspaper etc provided at kalka itself...

I have travelled on the same.. Way back when I was in class-8... They provide free food (price included in fare) at a halt enroute..

And if u travelling from Kalka then it get connected at Solan..!!

I dint took shivalik as non stop run was not needed. Instead a passenger steadily cruising through ghats was what i needed. Was lucky to get breakfast (fresh bread omlet) at Solan where there was a crossing too:)

even i wished for a passenger but could not due to risk of klk mail running late...had to go for an official connecting option...
