I told earlier na.. MAS mixes the WAP7 between RPM and LGD depending on availability. So if a LGD goes towards kerala then RPM comes to SWR.. :-)

Ee traininum pinney island express inum WAP7 athyavashayam aanu.. WAP-7 is not for the speed. Its for better acceleration. This train has so many halts and needs to accelerate better so a WAP7 is needed. Kerala Exp also needs a WAP-7 however there are not enough WAP-7 yet with RPM so that they can give it to all the deserving trains.

History of Chennai-Alappuzha Express
CHENNAI- ALLEPPEY EXPRESS (16041/16042) was introduced in 1966 as No. 41/42 MADRAS- COCHIN HT EXPRESS which was also known as the KERALA EXPRESS, before the introduction of currently running Kerala superfast express, The train was extended to Alleppey in 1991.
The train initially used to leave MAS at 1530 hrs and reach CHTS at 8.25 am the following day. On the return journey it used to depart from CHTS at 1815 arriving at Central at 1025 the next day.

Now that 4 guys have answered my question, I am feeling rather sheepish at having come up with such a silly question. ' Went to KL for Guruvayoor " was misinterpreted by me to mean that Iyer got down at KL to proceed on his way to Guruvayoor. Next I started searching for the name of the station with station code KL and found KHERLI in Rajasthan. All that left me confused. Sorry for the trouble.

As per SR press release, normal train traffic restored in Arakkonam from 10.30 hrs today. But, trains which are already cancelled will remain cancelled due to operational reasons.

Yeah, I have been following it after I had a stable net connection. Thanx very much for the update. They boarded around 2245 hours last night, reached KPD around 0845 hours today morning as per the last update I got from them. As of now, it is closing in on MAS. As you rightly surmised, the train was filthy it seems, understandable though.
