I have been a regular traveller in Doon express from 2009-13. After Lko only FD later Ayodhya were two station where Tap water was avl. Rest all had handpumps. Once it crosses Lko in morning, some pathetic lunch loaded frm Fd one had to wait for BSB to hope for some food. Without pantry this train and route can be quite difficult as Doon takes 10 hours instead of 8. Imagine a foodless waterless journey in summer with a train crawling slowly with so many scheduled and unscheduled halts due to single line.
Isse to accha hai ki hwh se ndls chale jaao- aur wahan se DDN. Time bhi kam lagega. My friend from hwh used to do this about 8years ago. Bus se night journey from DDN to dli and then 12312or 12324.This would seem to be funny given the punctuality has degraded for both the trains but 8years back punctuality was top class. He used to say that 13010 was always late to hwh. He was greatly relieved after the introduction of 12369 and change of timings of 12328 from noon to night
A break journey to delhi and then kolkata was more or less similar to direct train HWH. But even after 12328 timings were changed it still had issues of rescheduling especially in night but Doon was never rescheduled from DDN.
