Another instance WAG series LOCO hauling pax train

It has really become a common sight these days where Gs are used for Ps. Not sure why, less freight or more pax or both or just admin convenience?

Sometimes WAG-5 hauls 12845/12846 BBS-YPR SF Express

WAG-5E Krishnaveni has 110kph limit, which means, it can haul M/E conveniently.

Even once COROMANDEL SF EXPRESS(12841) was spotted with WAG-7.

WDG 4 hauls,
most passenger trains and express trains from MAQ to SRR side..
even once TVC raj and Mangala were hauled by WDG 4

I feel the recent Gs are capable of pulling anything without much restriction and 110 is pretty decent.

But they aren't permitted. Exceptional can b given to fewer WAG's only like WAG-5E which doesn't haul any freight.

Last year when Coro hit and killed 6 elephants in Ganjam district of Odisha, the photos of the train printed in the newspapers showed that the train was being hauled by a BZA-WAG-7(Blue)

Spotted the same with same train in Chennai on Sunday morning

These newspapers cannot be relied upon. They would even publish an earlier pic and just mention "archives." Anyways we do not have other means to verify, so we have to go by those reports on their face value.

this is the case with many trains like TVC-GHY,ERS-GHY,TATA/DHN-ALLP...

best give a dedicated train daily for either ERS or CBE to SRC daily which goes
via ru ( by passes at ajj) to src .

yes CBE doesnt have any direct trains to HWH..all it depends on TVC/ERS trains only..but they are almost jam packed to the core...CBE needs dedicated train to HWH..

it should not go via mas at all

mainly ers -pnbe is jampack making so much uncomfort for end to end pax is mas passengers

there is another ERS-PNBE Weekly which doesnt touches MAS...

If my memory is not wrong ERS-PNBE via MAS was introduced as a new train during Lalujis term.

a bridge en route was damaged ..its not fixed yet..

ohh so now that stn is use less? they are not taking steps to repair that bridge

Cochin station(CHTS) is the oldest station is city situated in Wellington Island, courtesy of the Britishers. It was actually made to transport goods like tea,spices etc. from Cochin to various places like Madras(chennai) and Bombay(Mumbai). But gradually it grew as a very important stations with a lot of trains like the Tea Garden,Raptisagar,Netravati,Sabari etc. But with the rise of Eranakulam as a city the stations ERS and ERN rose up and CHTS started to lose its importance. Slowly trains started to leave CHTS and finally it was left with a lone SRR passenger. Finally a bridge connecting Wellington Island and Eranakulam city was damaged after hitting by a barge and the lone passenger train was also taken to ERS. So now CHTS left with its old damaged buildings crying for revival. :-(

Even Sangha (PNBE-SBC) is facing d same problem in SL.. 12 people are cramped in place of 6.

What I thought was that instead of extending it to TVC they can actually convert TVC-MAS AC Duronto to TVC-GHY AC express.Surely its gonna get a good patronage.

One of them was Cochin - Patna sir.. and am sure about it. Can you check the TT's after 1985 pls if you have one.. infact early 90's also it was Cochin-Patna..

Srinivas, while I do not remember the exact year of inauguration, TVC-GHY (1) (then upto New Bongaigaon) was started in 1984. The rest of the then time-slot sharers SBC-GHY (2), ERS-GHY (1), SC-GHY (1) and ERS-PNBE (2) all followed suit in the next 5 years or so. Figures in brackets indicate frequencies and no. of days service in the week.
Later on, in order to convert the SBC-GHY into a tri-weekly service,the ERS-GHY was shifted to a separate time slot.

I missed it, also Mangala, Island, Howrah ,Okha and may more..

Right Srinivas. But that came much much later. If I am right, this train was Tirupati-Varanasi to begin with, then Cochin-Varanasi and finally Cochin- PNBE. But I am not very sure about this.

I still have the copy of Railway TT of my father's in which there exists trains as 5625/5626 GHY SBC Exp, 5623/5624 GHY CHTS Exp & 5627/5628 GHY TVC Exp.Other trains which were made superfast later include 5621/5622 North East Exp(Now 12505/12506)

I still remember boarding this train to go to Tirupati in late 90s then I was 6 years old I suppose.

But Sir as far as my knowledge goes till way early 2000's..GHY SBC used to run on Sun & Tues & GHY Cochin always ran on Fri...Then introduced was 0201/0202 GHY YPR GHY Special on Sat which was later converted into 5901/5902 DBRG YPR Exp & in b/w the vacant slot on Monday was given to GHY SBC Tri Weekly..Are u sure GHY Cochin ran on other than Fri before GHY SBC was made tr-weekly.???

Rail fanning as a concept is NOTHING NEW. In fact it predates IRI.COM.
Perhaps the earliest recorded instance of RAILFANNING by a member/admin of IRI was on Republic Day, the 26th of January 1984, by one PKV, then aged 33. While on a visit to Cochin, he visited the ERNAKULAM TOWN station at around 5 pm to witness the INAUGURAL RUN of the then newly introduced 901 Trivandrum - New Bongaigaon Express (later extended to Guwahati following gauge conversion).
PS. This is not to suggest that NOBODY EVER UNDERTOOK RAIL FANNING PRIOR TO THAT. But just came across this entry while flipping through the pages of my diary of 1984.

Its not extended, The day one onwards its from ERS..

Not very sure of the days of run Prabir. But I do remember that ERS-GHY was shifted to accommodate SBC-GHY's running on an additional day. All this happened even before YPR had become operational,may be sometime in 2004. AFAIK, HWH-YPR-HWH Express (then 8003/8004) was the first pair of long-distance trains to use the YPR terminal. As a matter of fact, the introduction of this train as a BIWEEKLY to begin with, was stalled for more than a year, as YPR was not ready for it. I think 0201/0202 etc. would have started much further down the timeline.

I think previously SBC-GHY ran via MAS. Now I think it deviates at PER. w/o touching MAS, not sure...

Its run via MAS only.

TVC-New Bongaigaon Exp now runs upto GHY.

nope it runs via MAS.. only YPR-DBRG goes through PER bypass.

Then BG track was upto NBQ & you have to catch MG trains to reach Ghy , Dbrt , Scl , MURKONG SELEK .

It is done after 1985 , as Pkv sir have tt of 1985 , it the timetable it is shown clearly ..
Then kanchanjunga exp arr NBQ at 23.10 .& it was the last stop.
