SRR to MAQ 130 upgradation possible only if it is electrified and sections like AJJ-SBC and JTJ-CBE cannot be upgraded since heavy traffic on these two stretches and even if it upgrades only shatabdis and DD will be benifited only in MAS-BZA stretch all the trains will be benifited
Anyway there is no possibility to upgrade speed. Already they conducted thrice 120kmph speed trails. But nothing happened.. 105kmph is maximum allowed between MAQ-SRR. But most of the trains are doing 110kmph frequently
Just track upgrades should be enough for SRR-MAQ to be 130 kmph capable. EMD's and GOC toasters are already cleared for 130kmph operations. Electrification is not necessary for upgrading this route to 130kmph.
Is PGT SRR 130mps??? I can see trains run really fast in this stretch and do cover the dist in around 45 minutes though travel time allotted for almost all trains is more than 1 hour but never knew that it was 130mps. It would be good if some time can be reduced. I think to attain higher punctuality percentage, trains are given more running time

The train has a mps of 110 kmph, hence, has average speed like that of a superfast. Surprisingly I have been observing this train from a year, and it has mas division coaches which are 130 fit for 12611/12 MAS-NZM-MAS GR. so, Restriction of GR to 110 in KR is not understandable! This kind of special treatment is even done to other GRs like JBP and NGP GR, i.e giving them a sf timetable instead of faster rajdhani type. Cleanliness of the rake is fine, without even one cleaning staff! That is lots said about the ethics of the people travelling in this train. Catering is not done, even vendors at Mangaluru n all r not good. Best thing would be to... more...
order online. About the schedule of the train, it was awesome, 30 mins late at ERN, 20 mins BT at Majn, Panvel few mins late and Thane ontime. But, however my travel had tragic ending. A man met with an accident while arriving thane. As the train was arriving, he boy fell into the gap between the train and the platform. Reportedly, he was clicking selfie. I deboarded at thane and the train was still awaited at platform no.8 for almost 30-40 mins.
In yet another rail accident, a 43-year-old commuter died today, when he got trapped between the platform and the express train at Thane railway station. The commuter, Kodakil Vellamuddan Chandran, an engineer, was travelling in the Kochivili-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Garib Rath Express towards LTT. As the train was about to halt at platform number eight, the commuter while alighting from an AC compartment fell straight into the gap between the platform and the rake, sources in the Railway Police said. medical team from a hospital was pressed into action but they could not pull him out. A portion of the platform was broken to extricate him, but he died while being removed from the gap. The Railway Police have registered a case of accidental death following the death of the commuter. The express train, which arrived shortly after 1100 hours in the morning, was delayed by more than 50 minutes following the mishap, sources said, adding, further probe was still on. Could be a loco sharing arrangement to manage between locomotives that are required for other trains, and locomotives which require maintenance. For example, Kerala express used to have ( still has, I think) a loco change at ERS, from where it used to get a ED WAP4 that requires maintenance. At ED, this loco used to be changed and a fresh WAP4 used to take it all the way to Delhi. Something similar is probably being followed in this case. ( Or could just be a technical issue , like you said).
TVC Raj is only tri-weekly, and also SRR is barely 5 hours from TVC, so SR is probably not interested in wasting time for a loco change for such a short distance and also not inclined to keep a locomotive on hand at SRR specifically for a tri-weekly train. Once SRR-MAJN electrification is complete, we can definitely expect TVC Raj to run with eloco till MAJN.
Actually GOC is nearer to SRR. SRR to GOC is roughly 340 km, while TVC to GOC is around 460 km now ( as trains have to go via NCJ to GOC). This arrangement was useful earlier when MDU-NCJ section was unelectrified. Now not only is TVC farther from GOC, MDU-NCJ section is also electrified making diesel locos less frequent in this route and removing any existing LSA with other trains. Now it is easier to detach the d-loco at SRR and use them on the new PGT-Dindigul route to take them to GOC.
Kerala Express has a reversal @ ERS & hence loco is changed to save turn arond time. True that NDLS bound Kerala Express gets a fresh(POHed?) loco from ED, which takes it all the way to Delhi and brings it back to ERS(may be that same loco returns to ED with that day's TVC - NDLS Kerala Express).
