Sorry to see the condition of the rake yesterday of this very old and prestigious train... the sleeper class coaches were really old and looking worn out. This train deserves good condition coaches
Same is the story of Swaraj/Sarvodaya....

I wonder why this train.. (hugely popular and high demand train) still runs with just 8 SL coaches and 7 AC coaches.. !
because to add to it there are 2 2a coaches...one 1a-2a composite coach...one rms coach...one pantry car...and few unreserved coaches too...
The number of coaches does not determine a trains popularity also GT Mail is one of the oldest trains of IR.
what I meant to say is that it has high demand & hence coaches must be added..
This train is already running with 23 coaches, so only 1coach can be added to it.Usually runs with an extra 3AC coach.

Awesome clicks. Golden Temple Mail aka Frontier Mail was my favorite train from Punjab to Mumbai and back in earlier years, when Rajdhani Trains were not introduced.

Thanks Shah-Nawaz jee...Once I had travelled in this train,cleanliness was just superb but rush was too high as Diwaali was approaching....
On this trip, I observed that it had onboard cleaning staff, who were cleaning the coaches every 2-3 hours.
Ab bheed to hogi hi, varna yeh kis baat ki Frontier Mail....:P
Also on that journey,the axle of the wheel got damaged before Mathura when the train was running at a good speed resulting in raining of stones from along side the track....Someone immediately pulled the chain..
Then after some slight maintaenance,the train was brought to Mathura Jn at very slow speed..The train was halted for approx 30 min at Mathura which resulted in the delayed arrival of train at NZM...
Overall the journey was fantastic..

And in those days, card tickets were in use for making reservations. The booking clerk at LDH will make an entry in his register for the date specified by you and make an endorsement on the backside of the ticket itself.
Those tickets are very rare now...

19105 / 19106 ADI-HW Mail also has Red color RMS Coach. I have seen this on 12.04.2013 @ MOZ when I was waiting to board 12056 DDN NDLS Janshatabdi.

Yeah. Something on these lines happened in my journey too. Someone pulled the chain in Kosi Kalan and due to opening of the pipe, the vacuum wasn't getting built up again. Because of this it was stuck there for about half an hour. No help came from the railways. One of the co -passengers used his brain and plugged the pipe.

This train was delayed for over an hour at ratlam station today and the reason I got to know from sources was that it was pulled in to the yard to attach some coach or something. Anybody with proper info on this ? Because of this, Indore Mumbai Avantika Express which tailgates Golden Temple at Ratlam was delayed by 1 hour..... Absolute mis-management on part of railway authorities... there was no problem with Avantika, they could have diverted it to another platform at Ratlam and departed it on time instead of waiting stupidly for Golden Temple.
That was very unfortunate. They don't usually divert it to another platform, but keep it on the outer till Golden Temple Mail departs.
yeah, I know about that as Im a frequent traveller to Ratlam. But in this case which may be rare where there was a long delay, there was no point holding Avantika back unnecessarily
Thats exactly the answer. It was a RARE occurence. Therefore, they did not do anything out of the box and decided to keep Avantika on the outer instead.
golden temple mail is one of the high priority train on this route, more as compared to Avantika, if Avantika overtake it then chances of more delaying of golden temple are increased so due to that reason they have done like this
Yes. One more solid reason. Completely forgot that both have the same route from NAD to Mumbai and Golden Temple Mail is a high priority train. Hence Avantika wasn't allowed to overtake it.
