Reducing time and distance between two points is not the only aim, catering to the passengers of the intermediate stations also is.

r u sure ? bcos sometime bk, when I ws traveling to MAS, a lady got her Gender change.. @ d chart it was displayed as MALE against lady passenger, she had some slip along with d tkt and showed that to TTE, but not sure whether it is PRS or ETKT
gender cannot be changed once booked. Be it on e ticket or prs ticket. Once due to error of prs clerk, a female was entered male. I realised it when i came home. I went back to prs and complained. The ticket could not be modified. Istead they wrote on the ticket "PASSENGER 3 RUPA KUMARI IS FEMALE 23 YRS. Please No hitch enroute". And Stamped it by sahibganj prs, eastern railway counter signed by chief resvn superviser sbg. So as far as i know,once booked its final. Cannot be modified. And i dont think they will consider for such error booked by passenger
