What an unpredictable GR it is! Sometimes easily dislodged by the rajdhani gang and sometimes leads them by a huge margin.. Already departed ALD bang on time while the rajdhani gang still stucked at KURASTI KALAN which is 124 kms behind ALD..

As like most other days, today also this this train is going to be OT by the Rajdhanis and this time in Sirathu (SRO) where it is halted at 23:02. The first to OT was SDAH Rajdhani in @21:09 followed by HWH Rajdhani @23:22. It sure will get delayed by atleast 1.5-2 hrs due to this unscheduled halt. And then like most other days, slack God will save its disastrous performance eventually by making it reach destination RNC with max 30-40 mins delay.

Both routes are not comparable at all. Mumbai Delhi route is congested only till Vadodara, whereas Howrah Delhi route is congested entirely, with some trains getting preferences due to aggressive timing. Decongestion is the only solution that comes to my mind. Tripling of the entire route,along with DFC would be great to see.
Yesterday night was ot by all in OT gang. All rajdhanis plus JYG GR & SK. Isko ot ka koi matlab nahi hai jab iska TT Rajdhani ke barabar hai. And yes one cannot blame congestion of route for OT as ye train VIP timings mein chalti hai.
I think Railways are promoting overspeeding on this route because I remember when I travelled in Kanpur Shatabdi it was running at 135-140 speed and these Garib Rath with ICF coaches can't run at 140, maybe that's why overtake happens. That's the only logical thing I can imagine.
Well, what you said has come true today! 12454 has been OT by SDAH and HWH Raj at CNB. This shows that not just GR, but even rajdhani of rnc is now suffering from OT. And as @LHB for SAPTKRANTI SF EXPRESS~ says, this is very unfair. It could be that the IR is running trials on some days and trying to increase the speeds of ER king and queen along the CNB-MGS route. Today in absence of 12454 ahead of it, 12314 covered CNB-ALD stretch in 112 minutes which seems to be somewhat higher than normal speed. 4 hours!! This is also higher than normal speed and shows true potential of the rajdhanis as against their TT.
But the TT of the GR and raj are such that the trains get a lot of time to make up even after1.5 hr delays in ndls-mgs route.Even after 3 rajdhanis OT 12454 yesterday night, this train could reach rnc today 20 mins ahead of schedule!!! Slack devtas save the prestige of rnc bound trains a lot. Most other trains do not have such huge slacks given, so in many cases it does make sense to have such OT

won sahi h baat...pehle ye biweekly thi, triweekly karne par SWR ka rake mila tha. ofcourse zone markings badaldi hongi but 1 rake SWR se mila hua h isko WO rake YPR - PDY GR & YPY - JP SPL GR mein use hota tha.

Once again slack devta comes into play. Arrives rnc well bfor time. Imagine koi kisi ko receive karne gaya ho aur woh ghar se 11:40 ke hisab se niklega. Pata chala train mein aane wale log 10:25 pahunch kar phone karne lagenge

Apr 14 2016 (10:56PM) I have myself seen that this train gets much lower priority than Rajdhanis and Durontos, has long unscheduled halts in some stations along Kanpur-MGS and often gets delayed by nearly 1 5 hours andthen in time in Ranchi due to this pathetic schedule

This is just a way to fool masses I think. The schedule itself is kind of strange. According to the schedule, the train leaves last halt Tori at 6:45 am and reaches destination Ranchi at 11:40 am. Why should this traintake nearly 5 hours to travel a distance of just 205 km from Tori to Ranchi? Granted the route has speed restrictions but does that mean it should crawl at a speed of around 40 kmph normally? I think the reality is that the train delays a lot in its journey from Delhi to Dehri on Sone and after that, it is given this additional buffer time by this misleading schedule so that people think it is such a good train afterall. I have myself seen that this train gets much lower priority than Rajdhanis and Durontos, has long unscheduled halts in some stations along Kanpur-MGS and often gets delayed midway... more...
by nearly 1.5 hours yet reaches in time in Ranchi due to this pathetic schedule. And in those days when these unscheduled halts are not there by God's grace, it of course will reach 45 minutes ahead of time. Afterall, it can't be such a crawler! The Rajdhani of this same route 12454 also is given a lot of buffer time and so it also is seen reaching ahead of time by 40-45 minutes often. Unless someone explains the reasons for such huge slack in schedule of the train, I am bound to feel this is just a way by IR to mislead.
