My first encounter with one of the most congested Outer/route of Indian Railways...!!
Mughalsarai - Allahabad Section.
Train Onboard :- Mahanagari Express and Vindhyachal - Lucknow Intercity express...!!
Start: Part 1:- Mahanagri Express
I entered this well known section with entering chunar jn. My train waited 15 min for getting clearance. Two frieght were made halt at nearest signal points both of side on Mughalsarai- Allahabad trunk route while i was entering for BSB side.
aapne abhi raat ka traffic dekha hi nahi sir raat ka traffic dekhiye kabhi time nikaaliye ek trip karte hain overnight ald mgs ya ald gmc in freight tab dekhiye rat ka traffic.
coal freight me bhi ek '+' freight hoti hai jise priority milti hai baaki sab ko nahi or empty Box trains loaded bcna ko ot karti hai pura mps difference follow hota hai yahan pe
Isnt it quite surprising to o/t loaded freight by empty boxn? Seriously I can't understand what has NCR achieved doing this...still Paradip to Allahabad takes15 days for a freight.
if they dont allow overtake of such freights then the congestion will just get double, in morning hours from gmc some 6-8 trains are run back to back all having 100 MPS are directly booked for MGS these freights do GMC ALD in maximum 6 hours and the other ALD MGS It takes 7-9 hours depending on the traffic, sińce they are booked for MGS they are given pass in order to cut the duty hours of crew because the more it'll take time in GMC ALD the more it is prone of being looped in ALD MGS section. On the other hand these loaded trains having low MPS 75 kmph sometimes 50 kmph also are sidelined in order to make route clear and these take 13 - 15 hours for GMC ALD and another 13-15 hours for ALD MGS
Is it compulsory to change crew @ ALD? ALD doesnt have much space to keep freights stationary.
depends on train freights bound for gmc coming from mgs/bsb/sta have a compulsory crew change at ALD, while trains like Raj,Dur,GR,Yuva,SK,VS and all not stops have no crew change at ALD but irony is the crew from ALD takes charge of these trains either from cnb or from mgs, other trains like 13131, 12401, 12505,12303, 14055, etc have crew change at ALD, the crew of 12401 and 12505 from ALD changes at TDL no crew change at CNB similarly for 12275 and 12403 whereas in return the 14056 has crew change at TDL then ALD and then MGS the 12505 crew returns with 14056, 12401 comes with 12404, 12275 with 12276 and 12403 crew with 14056 the next day similarly 12802 has a crew change at MGS from CNB.
Condition is 80% passenger trains coming from MGS/BSB side have crew
So the procedure of sending crew as spare is also followed in NCR which is there @ NFR too..For eg,being the div HQ max crew has their HQ in APDJ but crew change happens only in NBQ/NJP so these crews are sent as spare for 109 km to NBQ.Similarly crew in RNY are sent 46 km away GHY to join their duty.
Sending spare crew is only done for Rajdhani/Duronto/GR/Yuva trains that too from ALD to MGS the crews are sent spare sometimes by 14056 mostly by 12791 then from MGS to CNB they are booked for these trains and the next day they are booked for CNB MGS in these trains once they reach MGS they are again sent spair to ALD but this is only case with these high priority trains for others having no crew change at ALD like SK VS etc MGS books crew which has come from ald with some train any crew can be booked but those who have come directly from cnb to mgs are only booked for ald in order to make them get complete rest. Usually crews booked from ald to mgs ( mail trains ) are sent back to cnb and from cnb back to ald.
what about the rush in this train i want to travel from LKO to ALD????
how much early should i reach to get seat in general class at LKO

Just when the seconds lefts for the last few coaches of the mighty 12312 Kalka Mail to pass by, the NCR owned Jhansi Beast alarmed it's departure from ALD and gave a victory tone over the LDH WDM-3A hauled Vindhyachal-Allahabad-Lucknow Intercity Express which was stranded at PF-07.
PS:For some railfan friends who think that Allahabad's Platforms are dirty...so they can watch this video and extract some good things from ALD'S platform
