It has been slowed down to run in 9 hours from the earlier 7.5 hours run. Besides the #catering similar to Shatabdi n Rajdhani has also been stopped.

Oh so earlier with running time of 7.5 hrs (?) its avg. speed was 76 km/hr which is Shatabdi speed at Janshatabdi Fare :P
I think soon this train will be made a 17 Coacher, So 3-4 CC Coaches can be added - It could be like 11/12 2S, 3-4 CC, 2 SLR = 17
I think a Full AC Day time train wont work here, And if speed is not improved significantly then Shatabdi would be a waste

I think even an 8 hrs run would be fine which is around 71~ km/hr

According to me Matsyagandha Express incident changed the equation of this train in terms of speed. Monsoon TT was introduced only after Matsyagandha accident in 2004, and all trains were re-scheduled in non-monsoon schedule also whereby passenger safety was given priority.

Slowdown has only happened due to increased traffic on this route.
Due to increased traffic and crossings trains never used to make it to MAO on its scheduled time. I had travelled on this train when it used to run faster, my journey was from Chiplun to Panvel, that day it (12052) was late by 97 mins late at chiplun. Locals said it was regular affair and train never arrives before 7 PM. In those days timings were 14:10 Dep from MAO and 18:00 dep from Chiplun!!!

Catering is not stopped!! Last time I travelled on this train was in DEC'2012 and catering was available.

JNS is a 9 coacher but they claim it to be a 12 coacher.... Is it with or without the 5 extra coaches it regularly gets? Even if we include the 5 xtra coaches, then it will be 14 coacher and not 12 as mentioned?

may be changing with WLs.... My colleagues who regularly travels reported me that lat week there were DX coaches and DEX coaches by which pax were confused. I explained to him how the extra addition system works... :)
