The regular link of this train is Southern Railways Erode based ED WAP4 class electric locomotive . But in reality Kerala express is hauled by 3 different ED WAP4 locos between Trivandrum and New Delhi as the train undergoes loco change at Ernakulam Junction ERS and Erode . This is one of the best ( other than the Trivandrum Rajdhani express ) trains for tourists travelling from New Delhi to Kerala God's Own Country . It has 7 AC coaches out of which 5 are 3AC class and 2 are 2AC class , total there are 24 coaches in this train .

Has heard that ERS - TVC Vanchinad & TVC - NDLS Kerala have crew link between ERS & TVC. Similarly, NDLS - TVC Kerala Express & TVC - ERS Vanchinad are operated by the same crew, belonging to ERS depot. Don't know if this crew link still exists.
12626 runs from NDLS to ERS with a single WAP4 link, has a loco change + reversal at ERS and runs with a different WAP4 link between ERS-TVC. The arrangement was like this ( not sure if the same is continuing now) : 12626 runs with one WAP4 between NDLS-ERS and uses a different WAP4 between ERS-TVC. The WAP4 that hauls 12626 till ERS, takes 12625 from ERS to ED and from ED to NDLS, a fresh WAP4 hauls 12625.
So finally what happened to the passengers of S-5 coach. Did they have enough berths to accommodate the passengers of this coach in other coaches ? I am sure the other coach passengers would NOT have agreed for so much time to adjust with passengers & that too for a long journey.
