Already in 2012 summer a weekly CBE-TPTY ran as a special for 4 weeks after that it was cancelled due to poor patronization.But now its frequency was increased fm 3 days to 4 days , i think this won't surely work out.
An overnight train CBE to TPTY will surely workout...........

PART 1 :
Today i planned to travel from Salem to Chennai Central. So i reached SA by 7.50 planning to board CBE Intercity express. When i had a glance at the crowd standing at SA junction i got scared. Suddenly an idea struck so that me and my friends can travel from SA-KPD in this train and can continue KPD-MAS portion in CBE intercity express thereby we can sit for some 3 hrs . So i was waiting for this train. Silently a WAP 4 RPM lead train entered then i realised it was nt this one coz of the EOG sound. It was TVC-MAS duronto running late by 2 hours thereby skipping salem exactly at 08:21. After 30 mins CBE-TPTY express arrived on platform no 4 i.e. 25 mins behind schedule. The occupancy was just 50% and even general...

compartment was nt that crowded too . Infact we got a entire bay for us. Then the RPM WAP 4 showed its true class, it mercilessly skipped all the stations around salem suburbs and i enjoyed the entire route surrounded by hills and forests. It was really awesome from SA-MAP from MAP it was normal again with paddy fields,sugarcane and in no time we reached JTJ outer. At JTJ outer SBC-MAS express came with LGD WAP 4 in lead . An amazing parallel action took place where CBE-TPTY won the race. I took a video of that race. SA-JTJ took just 1hr 30 mins and SBC-MAS had a scheduled stop at JTJ but CBE-TPTY skipped JTJ in a very low speed and after JTJ it was made to halt for 3-4 times coz a goods train was obstructing our line. At Vinnamangalam the freight was sidelined and then it started to gain speed and we reached KPD at 11.30. 10 mins behind schedule but it was an amazing run and the coaches were clean too.

Nice writeup Sourav-ji. MAP is the place where you alight to reach Hogganekkal waterfalls on River Cauvery. Hogganekkal (means smoking rocks) is a lovely place for a day's outing and is surrounded by lovely scenes. More info here click here

PART 2:
Next we boarded SBC-MAS express as it came first which was hauled by LGD WAP 4 with road no 22213. We boarded that train as it will be less crowded compared to CBE intercity. The train departed at 11:55 bang on time and its first stop was mukundarayapuram where 2 got a seat out of 8 members in our gang then it halted at walajah road for 15 mins where a whirlwind struck it was none other than the train i decided to skip the CBE-MAS INTERCITY EXPRESS led by RPM WAP 7 cruisuing more than 100 kmph and it overtook our train like a storm and whizzed past us. Sholingur for 2 mins then at Arakkonam for 5 mins. To be frank SBC-MAS train has numerous halts but thing to be noted was a huge crowd got off in the above mentioned stations. At AJJ we were comfortably seated. Next we entered into last one hour journey. The fourth line between AJJ-TO was open and trains started to ply on the fourth line too but from TO -TRL the construction is going on snail's pace as i could nt spot any one working and no lorries,JCB's were there. Then a 1 min halt at TRL at 14.00 . After leaving TRL, Sanghamitra express came with a milky white RPM WAP 7 in the lead. Then we skipped all the major suburbs in Chennai like Avadi, Ambattur and Villivakkam eventually followed by a 2 min halt at PER and we started to crawl till BBQ. As i expected we were halted at BBQ outer at 14.40 and the MAS-CBE intercity crossed us with RPM WAP 4 in lead , infact it left MAS by the time we were about to reach. Then the train started to move and finally we reached MAS at 14.48 to be accurate.

Hauled by 22904 WAP- 4 of ED (Erode) shed, the 5 minutes before time running 22615 Tirupati (TPTY)- Coimbatore Main (CBE) Tri- Weekly INTERCITY Superfast Express arrives at Coimbatore Main Junction. The train was chasing the ED WAP- 4 hauled 12679 Chennai Central (MAS)- Coimbatore Main (CBE) INTERCITY Superfast Express by a gap of 10 minutes, which was also bang on time, and is seen stationed on the other platform. While the 12679 was jam-packed with passengers, but 22615 was literally empty, and we had one of the most comfortable journey ever.

Very nice report sir. Most of the time it reaches KATPADI from TPTY before CBE intercity. It waits at KATPADI at least for half-an hour. This train want's to be made run daily and provide stoppages at AMBUR , THIRUPATTUR, MORAPUR in both directions for better patronage , It is possible to reach CBE before 10pm. SR were operating 2 trains with this single rack in Tamil Nadu & Karnataka .
Here people always prefer daily trains . That is the difference why 12679 is jam-packed and 22615 is not.

We boarded the train from Salem. An we saw that the MAS ICE, which was already crowded prior to Salem, got loaded with a huge crowd from Salem (most of them were daily passengers). So I personally feel that the TPTY ICE should reach Salem before MAS ICE. In this way, the passenger rush can be equally divided.. In the current situation, MAS ICE runs jam packed, and TPTY ICE runs literally empty..

On introduction of this train , it won't stop at ERODE & TIRUPPUR. Lock of planning by railways is also reason for running empty. The running time is also higher than CBE ICE with less no of stops. It has to run before CBE ICE in both directions with more stops.

i think that all of have been introduced in last decade. the reason. when i had gone to bangalore for my kcet exam i could not manage any seat for bangalore from patna jn. i had to book my tkt in the then 5221 bju ers raptisagar express from hajipur to jolarpettai with resvn upto sbc. it was a long long route with plenty of reversals. i slept for 1st night with train going east woke up with train going west. got down to have lunch with train going south&then after my lunch train was headed south. similar experience for 3rd nyt.seemed as if the train had lost its way...in 2002 there were no trains that skipped jolarpettai...
