The crowd was so high in this train that even Ac class was looking like general class. It was heavily crowded. Their was not a inch to move your finger in GS class and in sleeper class in 1 seat 10people were sitting. The whole train was looking as general class train.
I wonder looking at the crowds in GHY-TVC, GHY-SBC and this train DBRG-cape, do TTE's ever man coaches ? While the TTE manning AC coaches will have a seat, i am sure it will be a problem for the TTE mannning sleeper coaches. Also huge headache for the pantry staff in a way...so difficult to manoueuvre through the coaches

Indian Railways train 15906, the Dibrugarh-Kanyakumari Vivek Express, travels 4,273 km, beginning from the north-eastern corner of Assam to the southernmost tip of the country. Believe it or not, the course of the journey is 85 hours long. It is known as the longest train in India, both, by time and distance. It starts from Dibrugarh at 10:45 pm on Saturday and arrives in Kanyakumari at around 11 am on Wednesday, which is a total of three days and four nights. There are 4 classes of accommodation on the train namely 2 and 3 tier AC, sleeper and unreserved. There is also a pantry car with a kitchen, and various luggage and specialty cars, plus an electric locomotive. Photographer "Ed Hanley" captured some great pictures while on this magnificent journey. Here are a few of them. 1. The map of the entire journey! 2. The train offers a lot of shopping opportunity. 3. Lots of little joys in little cups of chai. 4. And how can the biscuit guy stay far behind? 5. Then there are the vendors, who sell anything from nail clippers and peanuts, to tea and everything else! 6. A tiny kid binges on chips. 7. While a bunch of lads discuss politics over tea. 8. There's enough time to watch movies. 9. And you can tick the books off your bucket list! 10. The views are anything but disappointing. 11. Hanging out and watching the world go by is an experience in itself. 12. The morning sun at Asansol, West Bengal. 13. The sun's not far behind at Trivandrum either. 14. I am not saying about 200-300 kms. And neither we are saying for this single train. I am saying for all long journey trains. This kind of distance restrictions some time causes seats to be empty for partial distances and which are again taken over by unreserved and WL ticket holders which causes disturbances for those who have reserved tickets. that much huge role in confiscating the seats. If someone have to travel end to end , then he can have his shares from the GNWL quota , whereas RLWL , PQWL get their seats from their separate quotas. The intermediate passengers will get huge benefits of berth multiplexing as even sometimes WL 300+ also gets confirmed due to multiplexing. A boon for last minute travellers. If the restrictions would have been there , then that seat would have remained vacant for some Kms which is indirectly a loss only.
for 3K long train it need not serve 50- 100 kms off coarse some areas it will have little vacant that may be for hardly 150 kms near both end which is comparably less and even short distance train have some distance such vacant runs. so distance restriction is must and it will greatly benefit long travellers
Ok...But 1000 km distance restriction is way too much. If we take this train only, then if some one wishes to take this train from Dibrugarh to Ghy , then he can't get tickets or from Jalpaiguri to Odisha , then also. I would say 350-400 km restriction is enough.
