Nice to see the interior video which is quite rare...also one can get a glimpse of your diary in which couple of travel related details are noted...between which JS is this? via Alleppey or Kottayam?

That diary was for noting down loco numbers ;) This is the afternoon JS from Trivandrum which goes via Kottayam. I think its also known as 'reverse JS'.

There were many seats available till chart preparation, but the train was full, our coach didn't have any empty seats. I think more people buy tickets from the current ticket counter.

true..now a days current reservation trend is picking up...

yeah. that's the trend with Js.. :)

That means we are going in the right direction. I wish a day comes when we don't have to do advance reservation, tickets would be available just a few hours before the train starts.

This runs in partially electrified route from SRR to TVC.

No,the janshatabdi via Alleppey is the oldest among both J.S....bt it is also the fastest to reach calicut as it i via alleppey....:-)

mangalore-srr-ers ,srr-pgt, kayamkulam-trivandrum ,kayamkulam-chengannur ,kayamkulam- harippad and ernakulam- mulanthuruthi are double line routes

In Kerala, Ernakulam-Kayamkulam (via alleppey) is single line, Ernakulam-Kayamkulam (via Kottayam) is single line (doubling work is going on) and Shoranur-Nilambur is single line. Rest all double.

punkunnam -guruvayoor and kollam punaloor also single.:)

I traveled in this section yesterday. There are some 200-250 OHE poles lying in Karakkad Depot. Instead of waiting for foundation work to be completed till Calicut, they should start putting the ohe poles till Kuttipuram at least since SR had promised to complete SRR-KTU section by March 2012(deadline already passed).
Shoranur-Karakkad line is double but only 1 line is being used, I don't know why !

Bcoz it is not yet got the approval from Safety Commissioner

Today, there is a circular published in CORE website with regard to the target section of 2012-13. It includes - SRR-VLI-CLT -86 KMS & CA-EZM-CHV - 48 kms

No, Akilesh, its not the mistake, SRR-CLT-CAN-MAQ electrification would tendered as SRR-CLT-CAN & CAN-MAQ section seperately.
And tender awarded for 2 different agencies. During this FY, target fixed for SRR-CLT-CAN section is SRR-VLI-CLT.
On the other side, target fixed for CA-EZM-CHV to complete this FY

Remaining bottleneck b/w SRR-Karakkad 1.5 km stretch going to be commission on April.
For ongoing doubling work and signalling at SRR jun, This Jan shatabdi will short terminate at Thrissur from 15th March 2013 - 4th April 2013

Yeah :) I'm happy about the doubling work, otherwise waiting time was anywhere between 10 minutes to 20 minutes.

what diversion that was last year it seems

it won't get late coz allp route takes 15-20min less compared to ktym route.. and since it is a js.. it will be highly prioritized..
