A plus point for Dhanbad is that in next 2-3 years, they are going to reduce the travelling time of Hwh - delhi section to 14 hours by increasing the speed to 160kmph. we will see some quick action then.

Pls. remember, that till the Howrah Shatabdi used to run from Bokaro it was making huge losses (It served both Bokaro / Dhanbad even then). Only when it was extended to Ranchi that it started seeing the popularity it has today.
Talk about the Dhanbad- Hwh DD Exp also. It must be extended to Ranchi for profitability.
Agreed Tata / Dhanbad are more populated than Ranchi (marginally), that does not necessarily translate to higher Train passenger statistics. ALso remeber, Tata / Dhanbad have way more connectivity/trains by the virtue of their locational benefit on the Trunk routes. Ranchi is a dedicated line having only the city as the major source of passengers and hence requires more push from the govt. Agreed Tata / Dhanbad are more populated than Ranchi (marginally), that does not necessarily translate to higher Train passenger statistics. ALso remeber, Tata / Dhanbad have way more connectivity/trains by the virtue of their locational benefit on the Trunk routes. Ranchi is a dedicated line having only the city as the major source of passengers and hence requires more push from the govt.
