Reserved class has to face the brunt bcos u can't imagine the scene when the mst/qst fares would be increased. Country wise agitation would spread out at rate of knots

i have similar views... in next 25 years trains shorter than 300km and longer than 800km in future will become extinct because now time is most important for everyone.. for shorter trains people will prefer own cars and for longer trains people will prefer planes. 800km on plane will take only 3 hours compared to atleast 10 hour on railway...
middle class and upper class will switch completely to planes/car..
Railway will have only option left of income will be of freight trains or lower class ...

I think suburban travel will continue because mostly they're 50-100 km dist & comes under shorter journey. But to cope with mad rush in suburban trains especially in peak office hrs,IR will inc the fares to a large extent otherwise there will. Be only monkeys hanging from doors & windows

Air travel also depends on a good no of factors & I think most pvt airlines,especially the Low Cost carriers will see shutdown like Kingfisher & Air Deccan & in this market only full fledged carriers like Jet Airways & Air India will exist. If you see international factors,on a reputed airlines a 1000 km air travel on avg costs Rs 6k whereas facing stiff competition Indian LCC are providing even 1500-2000 km air tkt at a mere Rs 3-5k,which is certainly not good for airlines economic health. We still need to buy Boeing & Airbuses from Foreign countries where the smallest version of a unit costs a hoping Rs 700 crore.
