Train Blog<--- expand blog --->As I am getting waitlist tickets from LTT to ERN. I have as an alternative to try Mangala Express #2618. It has to be boarded from Kalyan. My staying would be around chembur, Ghatkopar, departure time of Mangala is 0835 hrs. which is the safest mode to travel Kalyan, when to depart from Ghatkopar, and which platform to land at Kalyan for easy reach. thank you all @Jhentee Jivraj: In some earlier blog you had told that you would be arriving by Lokshakti in the same day in morning. If that is the case, then there will not be sufficient time for you to go to Ghatkopar and freshen up and then go to Kalyan. Otherwise, the easiest way to go to Kalyan from Ghatkopar is by local train. You will get a direct train from Ghatkopar. It would be safe if you leave by 7 am so that you reach kalyan with sufficient time to locate the platform on which Mangala Exp would come. @Manish: Mar 18 (06:37PM) Sir, you are right recalling my statement. I will be arriving as scheduled. but leaving the Mubai depends on confirmed seats. as the journey is so long by train. and thank you for suggestion to go by local train. further if I may say, leaving mumbai next day also is not bad idea, if confirmed tickets are coming my way. it is getting too complex with lots of trains available but no confimed tickets/ @Jhentee Jivraj: Mar 18 (10:00PM) Board the train at Panvel instead of Kalyan. Panvel is easily accessible by local train from Chembur. @MST IndianRailways: Mar 19 (08:22AM) Why board from Panvel when he can do from Kalyan itself? Then he has to again go to Chembur/Kurla from Ghatkopar to catch local train for Panvel. @Manish: Mar 19 (10:52AM) He is indicating that he is staying in Chembur, thats the reason he is suggested to go to Panvel. If Ghatkopar, he can go to Kalyan. But boarding at Panvel reduces to overall travel time. At a time how much tatkaal ticket will be available? The Railways say it is a super fast rtrain. But I do not understand the logic behind her halt at very ordinary stationslike pattambi, Prappanangadi, Tirur, Kuttippuram, Payangadi, Nileswar etc. Either skip these halts or make it an ordinary express train. This art of renaming ordinary Mail/Express trains as super fast trains was conceived by the former Rail mantri, Lalu and his stooge Sudhir Sharma to show cash surplus in the railway's kitty. The very naming of the train is absurd. There is no railway station in Lakshadweep. The train is neither super nor fast. @first blogger: As far as the name is concerned, one needs to refer to the history for the background upon which name is inherited. The train is super and fast both in the definition of Rlys as the train avg moving speed exceeds 55 kmph. May not be super in terms of facilities / coach conditions / longer route as compared to Triavandrum Rajdhani route/ catering etc. but speed @ 66 kmph - avg moving speed is far far excellent. The train takes many stoppages, true, but that is in the discretion of IR which again is based on the route, commercial and technical needs. @first blogger: Before KRC this was an ordinary train running from Mangalore to Nizamuddin and was called Mangala express. Once KRC started it began running through KRC and was converted into superfast and extended to Ernakulam. This is the only daily train to Delhi which is passing through the above said stations. So this may be the reason for stops. Once it crosses the state boundary it is really fast with less stops. @anon: Feb 18 (07:31PM) you cannot common on the naming of the trains, because every name in indian railways other than the names of originating/destination stations, i.e. specific names kept to trains like venkatadri express, tirumala express etc are also of no meaning at all. But they r kept following the names of famous places . Tirumala express does not mean that the train should start from top of Tirupati hill, and Godavari express does not mean that the train should flow along with Godavari river. Similarly Andaman islands does not also have a rly stn, but still a train from Mas to Jammu Tawi has this name. This is just named from the famous island belonging to india. @Kapadia : Feb 18 (06:26PM) i dont understand this 55 kmph limit. in this age you call that superfast? its just a gimmick to make more money. best buses go above 55. so they are superfast. then the pune volvos which easily do over 100 should be called bullet fast? @KRISHNA: Feb 18 (07:42PM) i think there is railway line in andaman. maybe not used for passenger traffic. not sure though @anon: Feb 18 (07:31PM) This train is having this much stop not because of daily train to Delhi but for daily commuters. It is hard to believe that daily persons commute between Delhi and these small stations. I spent only 1 night in this train, from Madgaon to Ernakulam. But that was it. Cockroaches roaming all around. Not a very good experience overall. @first blogger: What suggestions do you have to get rid of this situation ? Where one has to report the matter and whether it has been reported at that place ? Requested to take some initiative and post the response. This forum is not a Grievance Cell and hence such matters need to be addressed to the Zonal / Divisional offices of Indian Railway. For journey from Delhi to Payyanur, there is only one train Mangala Lakshadweep Express, and same is the situation for return journey. This train runs daily with more than 100% occupancy. In this train, it is very difficult to get confirmed accommodation, if it is not booked long days in advance. Since the jurney from Delhi to Payyanur is of more than 40 hours and accommoation is generally not available in this train, one more daily superfast express train should have been run, though for another destination ex Nizamuddin/New Delhi in the evening/night reaching Payyanur in the evening. This will also facilitate roadside passengers. My request may please be sent to the concerned authority for consideration. Thanks, GAURAV/PAYYANUR @first blogger: New train should be introduced from Pattambi to Delhi. Pattambi doesnot have a terminal facility. @anon: Dec 08 2009 (07:34PM) stupid,..Wot do u tink of ur patambi station? Is it a big station lyk ERS OR TVc? @anon: Jan 17 (09:17AM) Big on what basis big platform? @first blogger: then go in netravathi train or other special trains ok lET US KNOW THE POSSITION OF MAGALA lAKSHDWEEP EXPRESS2618 hey how come platform 18 in ekm jn?it has only 5 platforms @first blogger: The platform# is a user-inputted value, and hence not very reliable. In this case, the value is wrong. We are looking at not making it editable by everyone. Thanks for the alert. This train can be routed via Panvel,Vasai Road,Valsad, Surat,Vadodara,Ratlam,Kota instead of Kalyan,Nasik,Manmad,Bhopal,Agra. @Harish-Nashik Routing the train out of Nashik, Kalyan will reduce the passengers. A lot of passangers board from Nashik and Kalyan. @first blogger: its route is justified..as it takes alomst same time as tat of kerela express..and covering almost same distance...u hav trivandrum rajdhani 2 cover the western route This is running in a very bended route. If even slower trains passes through Surat,Vadodara route, then why Mangala Express? Please don't allow to stop at Pattambi, Kuttippuram,Parappanangadi,Ferok,Koyilandi, Vadakara,Thalassery,Payangadi,Payyannur, Nileshwaram,Kanjangad,Bhatkal,Thivim, Kankavali,Igatpuri, etc. @anon: Nov 27 09:43AM Boss The stations like feroke and pattambi can be removed.. but lot of ppl depends on this train to travel frm kankavali, thivim, quilandi and kuttipuram... also Igatpuri is a technical halt.. frm there the diesel engine changes to electric... @first blogger: If they remove pattambi stop, no trains can be run inside kerala. @anon: Dec 08 07:33PM what patambi? Is patambi a metro station?Gud for nothing, the halt should b removd....... this train is faar far better than kerela express//in this train specially ac classes..u'd find clean blankets, toilets, gud fud..and co-operative attendars..really this train is really knwn 4 punctuality 2 @first blogger: thanks for the review. what is Tatkal status in 2618 on 19 dec @first blogger: at the time of reply is w/l 125 try it.. you should get it. Such a high waltlist on Tatkal means IR is expectingmassive cancellations..only a suggestion please.. no guarantee. Good wishes. Extend this train towards Kanyakumari. @first blogger: mera bas chale to is train ko itarsi -nizamuddin passenger banke dodaun,,,kya karlega be food is not good and the train is always late to madgaon by 40-50 mins उप ओर डाउन दोनो में इसे dholpur(raj) रोकना चाहिए.यह भी डिस्ट्रिक्ट प्लसे है मोरेना की तरह.प्लीज़ प्लीज़. and from Rajasthan unreserved passengers would board the train and cause disturbance to the passengers travelling from Kerala to Delhi and vice-versa. The only hardship which one faces while travelling the Mangala Express is the boarding of passengers into the reserved compartment from railway stations in the North India and sitting alongside the passengers who have already paid the amount of reservation money for travelling upto their destination. The Railway Minister Hon'ble Mr. Lalu Prasad Yadav should take measures to curb the situation. The Minister should once travel in the sleeper coach from Delhi to Kerala and must understand that the travellers are on a long journey (approx 2700 kms) and the journey is tiresome, they need to relax sometime and stretch their legs or sleep in the afternoon after lunch and if travellers board the reserved compartment and sit with them it is really very difficult for them to travel in a relaxed atmosphere. Even if the passengers tell them that they want to sleep or something the one who boards the reserved compartment tells them that they will just get down the next station and from the next station another one boards in and this continues upto Maharashtra. I do not know how to bring this issue in the Notice of Mr. Lalu Prasad Yadav. how is the overall route...
