How fast is it? its prety good.Top speed 140 Incredible. Then it must be having very good pulling power as well. What do you say about having WCAM 2P hauling Tamil Nadu and GT Express trains. I hope Tamil Nadu and GT Superfast is hauled by WAP 7 once Royapuram gets electric loco shed. WCAM-2P may be better than WAP-4 since it is the main loco of Western Railways and it also hauls Rajdhani, AK Rajdhani and Garib Rath trains up to a speed. But I still have one doubt- Why is it running only upto 120-130kmph along with Rajdhani when its maximum speed is 140kmph?? Is it because Western Railways have put restrictions on speed limit?? Tracks are not fit for speeds above 120 eventhough engine has the capacity and speed upto 140 The tracks might be fit for over 120 kmph (MAS Rajdhani/GR does a 79 kmph average). Anyway, I'm not sure. Faridabad-Agra has a MPS of 150 Kmph. The issue is the composition of the rakes. TN/GT has a mix of AC and general coaches where Rajdhani/GR is fully AC coaches. Most general coaches has the MPS of 110/120 kmph (you can see them painted outside the coach, where it's coupled to the next one). Whereas coaches can have MPS upto 130kmph. That's the reason when GRs, Shatabdis and Rajdhani have more MPS than other trains. [I stand to get corrected.] I guess TN/GT will get WAP 7 once Royapuram EL shed is inaugurated (which is to be done shortly). Guys WCAM 2P is a AC/DC loco while WAP4 is a pure AC loco. The area from Mumbai central up to Virar is under DC while it is AC thereafter. The mail/exp lines (3,4 the line) from Borivali is also under AC now. Hence a pure AC loco like WAP4, WAP5, WAP7 cannot be used to haul any train from Mumbai central. Hence any one of the AC/DC locos (WCAM1, WCAM2P, WCAM3) has to be used and of the lot only WCAM 2P has the maximum speed of 120 kmph. It hauls the train up to Vadodara where a WAP7 takes over. Here are some more facts, 1. WAP4 is a much better loco than a WCAM2P and has a MPS of 140 2. WAP5 is designed for shorter rakes with maximum speed 3. WAP7 is designed for longer rakes with a MPS of 130 kmph 4. WDP4 is also designed for shorter rakes with maximum speed, this is not needed in electrified territory where a WAP4 can do a better job. So, it should run little more faster hw much ,ore fast do u want...its fastest along its route....moreover it shuld reach at the estimated time...this is sufficient 4 it jiyo beta why dont u try runiing inside the compartment when u near u destination that way u'll reach 'faster' I said that this train should reduce the time taken by at least half-an-hour between Delhi to Chennai and to Delhi. Did you people get it? I don't think that Itarsi stoppage even worth of it. tamil nadu does not have a scheduled stop at Itarsi. It's only a technical halt for loading/unloading meals, crew change. Are you sure.... I believe technical Stops are not listed in the schedule. Only the commercial stops are listed. Then why in timetables it is shown as if it has a halt at Itarsi from 6.50 pm to 6.53 pm? It must have only 9 halts. After departing from Chennai it should stop at Vijayawada, Warangal, Balharshah, Nagpur, Bhopal, Jhansi, Gwalior, Agra, Nizamuddin and arrive New Delhi. Its speed also could increase that way. I seen people boarding from there in madurai division(S.rly) goods trains r running in 45 kmph only. Most of times they affect d running of mail/exp trains. D track btween KDU-CVP is fit only for 70 kmph. Even super fast trains also running at such lowest speed for a distance of 10 km. The time loss is approximately 5 mins. The allotted funds r fill the pockets of officers. real halt. Please make the TN stop at Gandhiji's Sewagram and Lord Krishna's Mathura. It is an insult not to stop at these 2 important places. I will approach the court. Train stops are not determined just by religious or patriotic importance. The two stations mentioned by you are important no doubt, but other considerations just as potential demand, station distances and availability of other trains also are important factors. Yes but WDP 4 is sufficient to TN. But WDP 4 is a not an electrical engine. Well, if WAP 4 is modified then it will be sufficient to pull 25 bogies load at the speed of 140-150 km/h. Similarly modification of engines should take place with WAP 1, WAP 4, WAP 5, and WAP 7. I think that along with WAP 7 some other engine is also used in Mumbai Rajdhani. If my guess is right then WHAT IS IT WDP4 can also pull wrf to this train.Generally TN is hauled by WAP4 and not WDP4 as the entire GT route is electrified. WDP 4 is a new engine isn't it. Itarsi stoppage for Tamil Nadu Express should be cancelled as there is not enough patronage from there since it is a small town and make it faster in such a way that it takes only 31 hours 30 minutes to go upto NDLS (New Delhi) from Chennai. Then it can be a real superfast Non-rajdhani isn't it? Even now it is fast but there is still a scope for making it more faster. Why is the AC 1st Class Coach (HA1) present in Tamil Nadu Express not a whole compartment? One half of HA1 is AC 1st and another half is AC 2 Tier. H stands for First AC, A stands for Second AC and HA stands for First AC cum Second AC (combined coach). So, the coach is all OK. - S K Jain But why the entire compartment not 1st AC compartment?? because not many people travel on 1st AC. If the entire coach is 1st AC, then on many trains, this full 1st AC coach will be travelling half-empty. Then there will be people from 2nd AC coming in getting a free ride on 1st AC coaches, and the railways don't get any revenue from that. we did not ask for a free ride. lalu's idea was to utilize all berths and also get more revenue by clearing rac/wl. It is for enjoyment, pleasure and relaxation. You take a plane if you are in a hurry. Plane travel is travelling like cattle, reach airport 2 hours before departure, long security check queue, plane delays, small seat, sitting erect, bad/no airline food, baggage terminal, very expensive airport, etc. You cannot always compare train to plane. Completely different purposes. i booked an ticket from bhopal to vijayawada with rlgn 8.journey date 2 jun. is there any chances that it will be confirmed. Yesterday when i was checking the availability for this train i found out that for the date 8 June this website was showing RAC 6 for 2nd Ac while official Indian railway website was showing RAC 9 for same date. it shows the difference in seat availability for same date.Why so ? Many people are going for reservation status available on this website. so i request the moderator to update it as quickly as possible because people may get into false situation when they go for bookings. there may/will b a difference to 4-5 seats/berths even if you look in irctc website, simply because there may some person who books the ticket while you are looking at the status. its possible for any train. sometimes it so happens by the time you complete your particulars in irctc website, the status may change, simply because there are lot number of counters where bookings are made manually which cant be estimated. this/railway websites all give a very fair idea about the status.
