Any official confirmation? This news has been going on since the month of December 2010. First it was said it will be extended from February 2nd week onwards, then it was headr that in the budget they will announce and now in March 2010. any offical confirmation? and what about the booking when will it start?

It is not mentioned anywhere that the train will be extended. Yesterday the full holiday special list was there but nothing about this extension.

It stops at Thane, Panvel, Ratnagiri & Madgaon on the route. Only 4 halts. Refer to the time table from where you posted your query. Post only specific queries and care for info which is already available.

There is no extension of the train to Mangalore. And hence you and others waiting for this extension will have to wait till the next budget i.e. Feb 2011.

Acording to my knowledge this protest was against the extension of Bangalore Mangalore train towards Kannur . There was a huge demand to extend this train to Karwar instead railways extended it to Kannur. The protest was against this and not against extending train #2133 towards Mangalore.
While going through the reservaation trend even for peak season for train 2133 seats are still available where as in matsyagandha has wating list above 200 for almost all days. So I think this train must be extended to Mangalore

There are 4 regular trains which goes to Mangalore + Other weekly trains. It is very difficult for karwar people to get reservation on those trains & again the timings at karwar station for both Up & Down trains are odd exept Matsyagandha UP train
Many people they might be knowing that 0109 DN & 0110 UP train to karwar was in operational since 2002 but only it was on seasonal basis ie on Ganpati -Dussera – Diwali festival & New year.
In last budget this train became regular on Tri-weekly basis. This train is much more convenient for Karwar people where there are prestigious projects like Kaiga Atomic Plant & Sea bird & Karwar Port Trust.
Instead of extending this train to Mangalore, I suggest to demand an additional super fast train to Mangalore on Tri - weekly basis that will run on every alternate day when Karwar super fast train doesn't run.

Can U pls specify which are these SO MANY train running from Mangalore to Mumbai? If there are so many trains running from the above said route pls don not forget that KARWAR is also on the same route . The only difference is some does not have stops in Karwar.
But anyhow the extension of 2133 is going to be a reality with the comming budget.

Till date no such extension is made for this train towards Mangalore. In future you can expect this. Two months back while inaugration of a train in Bangalore Minister Muniyappa told to press persons that the train will be extended to Mangalore and will start running from the 2nd week of February onwards. Any how according to the information obtained the extenssion of train will be included in the comming Railway Budget. In near future you can expect this.

Dear friend
The train is not not run by KRC. It is run by Central Railway. It is sure that this train will be extended to Mangalore. The only uncertanity is regarding the announcment of date. Railway Time table Committee which was recently met at Puri in Orissa has approved this proposal and it is now kept for final sanction from Railway Ministy. Once it is cleared this will be a reality. This has nothing to do with KONKAN Railway Corp: One more think KRC ialso comes under INDIAN Railway.

The distance shown for Konkan Railway line is
"chargable distance" and not "actual distance". The chargable distance between Roha and Mangalore is 40% higher than actual distance. This means if the distance specified there is 100 kms, the actual distance is only 71 kms.

Konkan Railway goes through very mountainous terrain. The rail lines are recent, and were expensive to build. So, the railways is charging more money per km for the Konkan line.
But instead of coming up with a different per-km tariff for Konkan Railway, they are just saying that:
If distance from A to B is 100 km, let us just say that it is 140 km (fictitious) and then charge the fare for 140 km at the "original per-km rate".
It is a complicated way to charge more money for the same distance. The moderator/admins should adjust the Konkan railway distances to "actual" distances, so that people are not misled into thinking that trains are going very fast in the Konkan region.

This New train( Mumbai CST to Mangalore Central -2133) will be helpful for konkan ,Canara and north malabar commuters.

I think this is best connection train towards TRIVANDRUM from mangalore central

After flagging off three new trains on Tuesday, Mamata said: “Bangalore-Hubli train would be extended till Dharwad, Mysore-Tirupati train would be extended till Chamarajanagar, Mumbai-Karwar train would be extended till Mangalore and Bangalore- Mangalore train would be extended till Kannur. “ The minister said that a duronto train from Bangalore to Howrah. will be soon introduced.

Good news from railway minister for people in kerala espicially to people from Malabar living in Mumbai. When announced in the budget about this train i was wondering if it can run up to Karwar why can't it be extended up to Mangalore for the benifit of people from Mangalore and Kerala, but somehow railway had done it. It has been decided to introduce a New Train No.2133 / 2134 Mumbai CSTM – Karwar – Mumbai CSTM (Tri-Weekly) Express to clear extra rush of passengers.
The Special train will be inaugurated on 21.11.2009 and this Inaugural Special will run Ex - Mumbai CSTM at 15:05 Hrs on 21.11.2009, with 12 coaches. As a regular service, Train No.2133 Mumbai CSTM Karwar Express will run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 23.11.2009. The train will leave Mumbai CSTM at 22.15 hrs & reach Karwar at 08.20 hrs (Next day). Train No.2134 Karwar Mumbai CSTM Express will run on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 24.11.2009. The train will leave from Karwar at 17:45 hrs & reach CSTM at 04.05 hrs. (Next day).

The above said new was published in The Express daily on December 9, 2009. I agree that there is no officaal press release but the railway is planning to extend the train up to Mangalore.

It is a combination of the two. We check the raw data, and correct spellings and names, based on the inputs we receive from our bloggers. For example, a few months back, when the Shirdi station was inaugurated, its name was "SNSI" in the IR site, which might not have been informative to many people. But, we changed it to "Sainagar Shirdi" here, and so on.
Sometimes, the train number remains the same, but the name changes, as in this case. We are going to be introducing a feature whereby logged-in users can directly change the name if they notice any errors.

I appreciate your efforts in keeping the site uptodate. I would like to draw your attention to another descrepency. When I type train no 2133 or 2134 in the "Get Train" box, I get an ajax suggestion. The names in the suggestion are still old ones, i.e. Darbhanga Exp and Pune Exp. Could you please correct them as well? Thank you for your quick actions and sorry to bother you again.

If it is shown as Dharbanga Express it means it is going to Dharbanga, and when returning it clearly indicates that it is going to Pune ! Simple i would think Am willing to be corrected. It helps people instead of confusing whcih train they are taking and going where. Most people don't know the train number is important and look only at the destination boards... Good wishes.

The issue here was that trains 2133/2134 were plying between Pune and Darbhanga, and now are running between Mumbai and Karwar. But, the train names remained the same. (now corrected) So, we had Darbhanga Express going to Karwar, which was confusing. We are taking some steps here to keep the names up to date. Thanks.
