@KJM-> if you are in the last 2 compartments of this train ( unreserved ones ) ..make sure that when getting down at KJM at pf #3 , these dont come on platform and people have to deboard on the ground level itself ..be careful !!!
Not useful dude!!! It comes on PF4,which is bigger than PF3....
dude , this tip was given when i was travelling in it ...
If you are going to Chennai suburbs on the AJJ-MAS line, this train is quite convinient in the day time for its halt at Tiruvallur. A local EMU from Kadambattur generally leaves once this train crosses Kadambattur to Chennai Central and also majorly lands up on the same platform as this train- If you are an unreserved ticket holder changing to that train is easier as another local ticket is not required and it connects to the stations of tirunindravur, avadi, ambattur etc-so overall gives a good connectivity with that connection
Is this allowed.. some say not allowed, need to get sep. tkt for local trains ? what about pax hving reserved tkts, can they also do d same ? alight at AJJ and board local train ?
No- if you have a reserved tkt you need to buy seperate for local- but if its UR then you can board the local
I think you can but ticket till chennai central and get down at tiruvallur and board local then you need not buy ticket again for local
How can it be ? Reserved tkt is costlier than UR tkt.. still not allowed to board local trains ?
Reserved ticket means you are eligible to travel by that seat only- unreserved ticket theres no restriction that you have to take the particular train EG: i can take UR ticket of SF catch TPTY Exp till KPD, change over to CBE ICE till ajj and take local to my place without restriction- but same you cant do with reserved ticket-so same logic applies
But in Mumbai I think one can board a local from KYN to any suburbs like Mulund or Dombivili even if one has a reserved seat. I guess we can do the same there also. Also passengers heading towards the MSB-TBM line can book tickets upto TBM on NIGHT TRAINS only and change to an EMU at Park
A TTE on a EMU on TRL-Ambattur route told me once that you have a reserved ticket you cant use it in the Chennai local-that was in early morning local from tRL to Ambattur after getting down from kaveri
Oh!! That is indeed news to me. Thank you sir
the railways should allow like kyn to ght suburb station. any adm can high light this . then will be useful for passengers
If you want to travel with the "CLASS" then its 12028, if you want to travel with the "MASS" then its 12610, This tip not only relates to availability and booking of tickets, but also Availability of space in the train. Courtesy its 17 halts, there's never a dull moment on board the 12610 (especially if you are one of those who don't sleep).
* Tickets during non-peak seasons are available as late as 2 days prior to date of Journey, but even otherwise it doesn't make much of a difference. This train has about 6-8 reserved 2S coaches regularly, occasionally goes upto 10 during weekends and peak season/holidays etc.
This has TV also in some of general coaches
Very comprehensive and useful tips. Thanks a lot
Yes, that is a recent initiative by SWR, they have tried implementing it in quite a few trains
Tippu and Chamundi express and its RSA has TV's
SWR has installed TVs in 12028,12607 and 12609.
