Not very far from Pathankot, there starts the Kangra Valley Narrow Gauge line. Was ever this NG line connected to main Pathankot station?
These NG trains used to start from Pathankot only until last year but due to a bridge collapsed on Chakki river ,temporarily these trains start from Nurpur road

Forget elections. Bangalore and Mumbai are big metros big enough to run a proper SF train. When 100+ buses are running between these 2 cities, railways is not seeing or smelling any need to run a good train.
If CSMT or DR or LTT have platform issues, they can plan trains from/ to Panvel.
5000 passengers travel between Bangalore Mumbai everyday. Means 2 trains can be filled. Thus is apart from those buses running from Mumbai to Belgaum Hubli Ballari Mysore Hassan etc.
