Farakka Express got a good start after Covid by LHBfication & a slight speedup of 20 mins . However 2024 was one of the worst year for Farakka Express as it was extended to Balurghat & Bhatinda , then faced massive slowdown of 3hrs . All these made Farakka so worse that even Malda , Sahibganj , NFK public ignore this train very much
Why was Farakka express extended to Bhatinda? Lack of rake space at NDLS?
Farakka used to run upto Old Delhi, not NDLS. Although it has an interesting history.
Originally used to run between Varanasi-Delhi as Ganga Yamuna Express. Then got extended to Bhiwani on DLI end. Later it was extended to Malda on BSB end and was renamed as Farakka Express, with short termination again at Delhi.

I just used NDLS as a general umbrella term for all stations in Delhi region, though technically it can only be used for New Delhi station, I know.
The extensions reminds me of two trains. I think Avadh Express was originally Lucknow - Agra once when introduced [though I could be wrong], now it is a mammoth Bombay-Barauni Express.
