Lucknow लखनऊ (LKO): State government has issued orders to Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) for publishing advertisements in print media for recruitment of the Managing Director and three board directors in the corporation. Government is seeking applications from qualified experts with rich experience in the sector.
LMRC would be seeking permission from the Election Commission for publication of recruitment advertisement in the newspapers. Currently, LMRC has two notable officials on board, Metro man, E. Sreedharan as Principal Advisor and Housing Secretary Rajiv Agarwal as the Managing Director of the Corporation.
Speculations regarding appointment

of officials in LMRC, the special purpose vehicle formed to execute the ambitious metro-rail project of city, have been rife ever since the corporation was instituted. While a section of bureaucrats were in favour of appointing an IAS official as LMRC’s MD, others supported recruitment of a technical official as metro’s head.
After a series of deliberations with departments concerned and Sreedharan’s advice, the state government has issued GO on April 7 asking the LMRC to invite applications from technical experts who carry at least 10 years of experience in successful delivery of metro projects across country.
Insiders to the development said the decision comes in the wake of past experiences that show how metro projects headed by professionals completed successfully within deadline rather than those which have been spearheaded by senior state officers.
Moreover, the state government wants to develop LMRC into a full-fledged, self-sufficient team of professionals who have the ability to execute and monitor metro-project single-handedly without having to depend on other consultants like DMRC.
Madhukar Jetley, advisor, externally aided projects department said, “the decision will help recruit the finest brains and expertise from across the country which would make LMRC self-sufficient to handle the proposed metro and mono-rail projects in other districts of the state too.”

To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...
