South Central Railway (SCR) general manager PK Srivastava has said that steps are being taken for the development of the Guntur Railway Division.
Speaking after commissioning the second pit line set up at Guntur yard Thursday, he said the facility would ensure safety of running trains.
The second pit line of 560 m (24 coaches) was constructed keeping in view the present and future requirements. The project was started in the year 2012 at an estimated cost of `6.73 crore.

pit line is a place where trains are thoroughly examined for electrical and mechanical fittings to ensure safety of trains during the run. This checking is performed before berthing of trains on platform for dispatch. Guntur Division already has one pit line of 18 coaches capacity in Guntur yard where two Express trains and one Passenger train are maintained daily towards primary maintenance, according to the railway officials.
General manager PK Srivastava has also commissioned other facilities including a new ‘crew booking lobby’ at Nallapadu with the facility of signing on and signing off that would greatly help in reducing pre-departure detention of trains and facilitates in smooth takeover of trains by the staff.
Nallapadu is the most important station near Guntur, the divisional headquarters station. Located in rural Guntur, this junction station separates routes from Guntur to Pagidipalli and Nandyal and traction from Diesel to Electrical and vice-versa.
Guntur DRM N K Prasad and other officials were present during the GM’s visit to Guntur.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...
