Hi,
An ADVICE and WARNING: never ever think you're safe in rajdhani or any other train for that matter, there is no police onboard the train and the railway staff (TTE/Guard/others) don't give a damn about what happens to you, the best you get is a sympathy from few innocent helpless staff.
I write this because I was robbed in broad day light in a way that I wish it happens to none.
As

the train (22693) left Nagpur railway station on 25/06/2014 and was gaining speed near the outer signal a thief encroached upon me as I was standing near the door, dragged me down to tracks and stole my phone. I went behind him for a distance and saw few (20 odd railway workers) standing close to him and asked them for help, they made it clear that they're not ready to help. All this happened as the train was chucking away, then I decided to stop the train to get on board and started running along with it on the ballast to catch someone's attention to pull the chain....but unfortunately nobody could hear me because of the closed windows, as the guard coach passed by I banged the sides and screamed as much as I can...luckily he saw me running and opened the door to ask what happened. I explained to him in brief and I think as he saw me bleeding he pulled the chain. Then I got on to the train and asked him to inform police and call them to action, he denied it straightforward and said that the thief would have already ran, but we could see him clearly. The guard could have atleast informed the station and alerted the RPF, instead he asked me to file the complaint in next station where the train stops (Bhopal) which is appox. 6hrs travel from Nagpur.
Now the next part, the guard and another railway staff enquires me what happened and I explained them everything...they had the audacity to put the blame on me telling that it was my fault to stand near the door. I told them I just met someone I knew at the station and by the time I went back to my seat this happened.
All this, with me bleeding and wounds over my body, then I myself asked for a first aid and got the wounds cleaned.
I asked for the police personnel on board the train and he said "There is nobody on this train", which is completely ridiculous again. I questioned him about the safety of passengers and he said we don't know about it, it's the policemen who are supposed to be here. Now they told me about the past incidents that had happened and they were pretty much welcoming me to the club of victims.
This is just not a very good sign, I was baffled and asked them how come even after knowing about so many incidents you are not worried about the safety of passengers and not have at least a policeman on board. I got the same irresponsible reply, "we don't know and we're not responsible"!!
The guard did stop the train and gave me the first aid (after asking for it), gave his phone to make calls....I don't deny that, but the attitude they show is unbelievable. It's like, with this high population and such a huge system....you're safety is not of our concern and it can't be guaranteed.
Next is the TTE, same attitude same response, I had to sit there in the cabin for six hours to get the complaint filed. They did help me in filing the complaint and took care by lending their phones. Again the same stuff, you're among a million cases...so no matter even if you've lost a hand or two it's just another day for us, so get on with it!
Does it mean we lose everything and be a victim just because of the high population, failure of the system and few lazy public servants?? This is just not the right attitude!!
Why there is no police on board, he says "they just don't come, I can't do anything", so I ask him what if some dacoits stop the train and rob all of us, no reply from him.
Where to file the FIR? now it's not Bhopal as the train stops only for 5 to 10 minutes, they asked me to file the complaint at H.Nizamuddin station the next day morning.
The police as usual, took the case as lightly as possible didn't enquire much...I showed them the copy of TTE complaint and they agreed to file a Zero FIR (FIR at a different station). The next ridiculous stuff: they wrote down section 392 and I asked them what it meant? blank for a while and they say it relates to your complaint. I asked them is it robbery or theft? (because there is legally a big difference in terminologies) a theft would be a case involving one person trying to snatch others' valuables with/without assault and a robbery would be case involving two or more person stealing others' valuables. Then started a series of consultation among other officers and then finally decided to agree on theft and booked it under section 356 and 379. This will be sent to Nagpur police station via post and the investigation officer over there will contact me to see what further action can be taken.
In this advanced technological era, they still depend on post to send messages. They didn't even bother to block the phone, clearly stating that it's not our duty and Nagpur police should take action. Which I hope they will...
I urge you to think twice before travelling in Indian railways, all is well till nothing happens to anyone...the moment something goes wrong the department, the people, the system nobody cares about you and you'll be left all by yourself....helpless!!

I agree that in my last 4 trips recently I have not seen a single rpf or grp on the train in the whole journey. only once saw 2 rpf personnel sweeping through coaches when sbc bound rajdhani reached jhansi.

Put all this and write letters to RM, MOS RM, Railway board and send copies to the media. Nothing much can be done in yor case but it will spread the awareness among the rest.

"Talked to 20 railway workers" means he must have shouted at them, and they simple waved and denied him to help.

These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
