orkaykarthik 4 blog postsI'm planning to book on 19261 Porbander Express from Karwar to Panvel on this September, i.e., Departing from KRWR by 2.50 AM and arriving at PNVL by 14.55 PM on the same day. Following that immediately I need to take up the local train from Panvel to reach Kurla station to enable us catch our flight to chennai at 20.20 (Maximum allowed check-in time is 19.20)

agreed that cla is congested...but that is upto getting down from train to pf, once you are on the pf, clear indications exist as to which is east and which is west...also local people are extremely helpful
kurla is also the best resort for airport as we have the sclr now which quickens movement from there...hence i would say kurla is a better way out

Good that you wish to cover Konkan route. But if you board the train at 2 am, you would miss a good 4 hrs of scenery. The scenic route ends roughly 1.5 hrs short of Panvel.
When dont you take the Mandovi exp from MAO in the morning and spend the night in Mumbai and then fly the next day to Chennai. Karwar to MAO route too is great.
