The much awaited two passenger lifts were commissioned at Mangaluru Central Railway Station on Saturday, bringing relief to passengers.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, Dakshina Kannada, who inaugurated the lifts said that they would be useful for senior citizens, differently abled, women with kids and passengers with heavy luggage.
The lifts installed at a cost of Rs. 30 lakh each can accommodate 26 passengers at a time (13 in each). They connect passengers with platforms I, II and III.

more... on the occasion the MP said that two escalators at a cost of Rs. 2.38 crore would be commissioned at the station by March next. Their installations works were under progress. Each escalator would cost Rs. 1.19 crore. They also linked passengers with platforms I, II and III.
Anand Prakash, Divisional Railway Manager, Palakkad Division, Southern Railway, and other railway officials were present.
