Mumbai: Central Railway's harbour and transharbour corridor will switch to 25 KV alternating current (AC) from the 1500 V direct current (DC) this weekend provided the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) gives the approval.
Harbour and transharbour corridor is the only stretch on the Indian Railway which run on DC traction. A senior CR official said, "The CRS has begun the inspection of the corridor and we expect to get the clearance in time to switch to AC traction on the intervening night of April 2 and 3."
