Why don't take direct train for Mandsaur ?
Already many trains running for Mandsaur via Nagda-Ratlam.
And shipra express arrives Ujjain at pretty odd timings...So there is chances that the special buses running by MP govt may not be present at this mid of night. But still i don't know confirm. Although auto/taxi are readily available outside UJN station and its kumbha time , so 24hrs it would be crowd present.

Ujjain safe hai odd hours me bhi aur agar Kumbh me nahana. Nahi hai to fir direct Indore chale jaana better option hoga abhi ke rush ko dekhte hue

They are 15 person in group and have to hire a tempo traveler.
They directly wants to proceed Mandsaur without taking a dip in KUMBH.
If they go to INDB, I think they have to travel back towards UJN for going MANDSAUR.

i want to know that if they get down at UJJAIN and hire a tempo traveler, will it be ok ? Due to heavy rush at UJN, they may held up in traffic or so ?
