Grievance Description : Subject:- Production/Allotment of WAP-5 locomotives. The WAP-5 loco was specially imported from ABB Swiss for the passenger traffic of IR. it variant WAP-7 was created which is more in use as it is suitable for Indian Railway tracks. WAP-5 typically is a high speed loco and best with small length trains like 12 coach gatimaan or 18 coach shatabdi. Only NR and WR homes WAP5 loco while other zones like ER CR SCR SER n SR, have mostly refused to run trains with WAP-5 loco due to gradients and ghats in South India Also, in ER, WAP-5 rarely visit despite the NDLS-MGS-HWH route being considerably flat and high speed. If this loco is useful only in WR n NR part of India and not in other parts of India. Why is such WAP5 loco still in production? If it has capabilities then why it is restricted to these two zones only? Against all this, I feel WAP-5 can manage with small load of 12 coach Shatabdi/Gatimaan in BSP-NGP-SC n MAS-SBC routes. Can the existing routes like BSL-NGP-BSP or NGP-SC-MAS-SBC be engineered for removal of gradients as far as possible to make it fit for WAP-5 locomotive?

Details : With the up-gradation of other routes for semi high speed train operation, sufficient no. of WAP5 locomotives will be allotted to concerned sheds/Railways in due course of time based on the availability of requisite infrastructure in sheds.

Right now the high speed train is MAS Rajdhani. It's SCR's headache to provide loco for it. Forget about WAP5, First Provide RPM WAP7 for 130 mps MAS Raj/GR. lol CR takes the headache for providing loco for rajdhani trains, be it of NR/CR and all three sheds do it willingly, KYN WDG3A loco for Goa Rajdhani Inaugural, BSL P4 for LTT-NZM, AJNI WAP7 for BSP Raj.
ED WAP4 does a better job than BSL WAP4 with Rajdhani. That's the reason I said Erode would have been far better choice than RPM and also as per the procedure to take wag9 first n then wap7. Erode did receive some wag9 didnt they but they too were taken back as Wikipedia mentions

abt ED WAG9, but atlast it was SR's decision. If they wanted they could have transferred WAP4 from ED to RPM like NR did from GZB to LDH But it's SR's choice. Same way it will be CR's choice for wap5 i.e if allotted where to shed it kyn or ajni. Moto is to use WAP5 with 110-130 mps trains for now as you had said they can be used for 110 mps 24 coach long distance trains too.gatimaan has long time to go for now in CR.
Also, you had only mentioned abt 100 kmph mps for WAP5 in SR. so. it's real more long way to go for SR. tab tak LGD Zindabad karo :p for borrowing WAG9 locos for goods train as well 130 mps WAP7 for Raj/GR.
