Central Railway has decided to re-introduce the Gulbarga-Hyderabad Inter-City Express, which was discontinued in March after the initial run of one month after its inauguration in February, from August 8, according to member of the Zonal Railway Consultative Committee (ZRCC) Sandeep Jawalkar.
Mr. Jawalkar said here on Saturday that senior officials of the Solapur division of the Central Railway including the Divisional Railway Manager and Divisional Commercial Manager were in Kalaburagi to overseethe arrangement for the inauguration of the express (Train No 11307/11308).
Mr. Jawalkar said that the railway authorities have kept in
dark the ZRCC members about the re-introduction of the train which was withdrawn in March citing the reason that it was not viable and the passenger load in the train was very low. He said that Central Railway has not conceded the demand for changing the timings of the new inter city express to make it more viable.
The train was being re-introduced with the same timing.
While it will depart from Kalaburagi at 10.25 a.m. and reach Hyderabad at 2.50 p.m. and from Hyderabad it would start from 4 p.m. and reach Kalaburagi at 9 p.m.
He said that if the authorities do not change the timing, he would lead an agitation and gherao Railway officials on the day of the re-launch of the train.
It will leave Kalaburagi at
10.25 a.m. and
reach Hyderabad
at 2.50 p.m.

departure at 06:00 would be a waste as it would be forced to wait for Chennai SF's OT, which itself may be running slightly delayed and will end up trailing.
This would greatly reduce the importance of this train as UBL-SC express which departs at 07:10 would end up arriving not much later than this one.
It needs better Departure time, but 06:00 won't be beneficial for anyone.

TT should have been a Early morning departure form GR and lateevng dep from 5:30 AM @ GR and 5:30 PM at HYB should have been a pretty good TT considering the ICE status ...

05:30 would be better departure, no doubt, but not sure that early departure would be acceptable to people
17:30 PM is a good dep timing, but a passenger train to GR from HYB already operates at 17:25. Unlikely SCR would give sanction to a train at that time that will eat into its own train revenues.

I don't think Chennai SF would overtake it. Since common track is only till WADI, 36km OT is not necessary. Anyway when DD - GR gets double line, Chennai SF will be speeded up by at least half an hr and will run run ahead of this. Even till then, 10 mins gap with identical halts will not call for OT.
