MUMBAI: Seven women commuters, travelling in separate Down locals on Wednesday night, suffered injuries after being hit with stick by robbers perched atop railway poles near Goregaon. Many of them dropped their cellphones on the tracks in panic. The GRP recorded non-cognizable complaints or accepted written applications, but didn't register FIRs.
Kavita Birmule, a 28-year-old insurance executive, was the first victim around 8.30 pm. "I got into a Borivli-bound slow local from Goregaon. As I had to alight at Malad, I stood near the entrance along with two girls who were speaking on phones. At Chincholi bridge, there was a loud sound and I felt a stinging pain. The two women were also hurt. We had been struck by someone and the
women had dropped their mobile phones in the melee," Birmule said.
At Malad, she approached the policemen seated on the station.
A Virar-bound train arrived at the platform next. "Two women commuters approached the cops with the same complaint. One of them said she had complained in the past as well. The cops said they are dispatching a team to the spot. But women commuters from several subsequent trains, till 9.30pm, came with the same complaint. We stayed back till midnight as the cops took down our details. But FIRs were not registered," said Birmule.
One of the victims, Linsley D'Souza from Malad, left a written application after her phone was robbed. After a mediaperson intervened the next day, the cops summoned Birmule and registered a non-cognizable complaint.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
