Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Palakkad Division Naresh Lalwani has said that the proposed provision of apron for railway tracks at the Kannur railway station is not a priority now as efforts are on to expedite the introduction of bio-toilets in trains.
Talking to reporters during his visit to the station here on Wednesday to examine the facilities and the ongoing construction works, Mr. Lalwani said that the problem of filth on the tracks would be solved when the bio-toilets are introduced. He also said that the proposal for the fourth platform at the railway station had been taken up with the Railway authorities at the centre for a decision.
DRM said that the works to improve passenger amenities at the Kannur railway station are in progress as scheduled. The amenities and infrastructure of the railway station would be comparable to that of the Kozhikode railway station once the ongoing construction works including the works for the subway connecting the platforms are completed, he said. “One can never be satisfied with passenger amenities which can be improved,” he said adding that infrastructure development is the Railway’s priority. The ongoing works for installation of the escalator would be completed in August-September, while the subway and lift installation works would be finished by December, he said.
Mr. Lalwani also said that the parking area at the eastern entry of the railway station will be improved.

Earlier news was the amount sanctioned and fiber apron will be installed. With in a week they changed and told bio-toilets are coming so no need of apron.
According to him "everything is in progress as scheduled". He could have been mentioned which year of Aug-Sep also.

And the irony is just when you think things are about to start, the DRM then gets transferred. A good example is the previous TVC DRM who was quite active and was able ti implement quite a few things. His response on Social media was also good. he also got transferred ion the recent reshuffle of DRM's.
The negligence and slow pace of progress in Malabar continues.
