Delhi Metro recorded the highest ever ridership figure of 33,36,550 on Wednesday, reported the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) a day after.
Calling it a 'milestone', the DMRC release provided a line-wise breakup of ridership for the day.
Line-1, which stretches from Dilshad Garden to Rithala, saw 4,46,608 commuters take the metro. The figure for Line-2, from Samaypur Badli to HUDA City Centre, was 11,54,183. Line-3/4, which spans from Dwarka Sector-21 to Noida City Centre/Vaishali, saw 11,95,993 commuters. Line-5, from Inderlok/Kirti Nagar to Mundka, had 1,45,680 riders. The new line from ITO to
Escorts Mujesar, called Line-6, saw 3,30,528 users. Lastly, the Airport Express Line saw 44,579 commuters.
In order to provide uninterrupted and comfortable service to the commuters, DMRC is already running extra trips on Saturdays and Sundays during the month and also ran 106 extra trips on Wednesday in anticipation of this expected increase in number of users on the eve of Raksha Bandhan, the release said.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . -@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
