it will be quite some time before that happens. both 12951/2/3/4 run regularly on HOG (probably one rake is still not fit for HOG) and the HOG P5 project will take some time to complete.

Well, that happened more than 2 years back. It's an old story. Since then, changes have taken place. I heard BRC was changing speed sensors on their P5 locos last year.
I remember an incident when a WAP5 (probably 30000) was hauling Golden Temple Mail (was running with 2 extra coaches on that day, total 24 coaches) with traction bogie 2 isolated and completed the journey without any problem with only 50% of its power and tractive effort. The train reached late because priority was given to other trains. Just check the incidents for punctuality loss on elocos for October, 2015.

WAP5 is a rugged machine. Its failure rates are always lower than those of the other two 3-phase loco classes and even WAP4 :D. How cool is that!
We can compare the ruggedness of this loco class with that of a WAM4 :D
Only reliability needs a little more "push" (from RDSO/CLW, of course) and the job is done. Also, the price of this loco needs to be brought down. It's damn expensive at present :).

anything with PWM inverters is :P
i had used a 1 Kw drive for my project, cost me like 20k Rs :P
Higher rating drives are rarely produced en masse, and that drives up the product's cost.

Right! And besides, WAP5 is also the only loco with fully suspended traction motors :D.
Also, its 1150 kW TMs (probably the most powerful TMs used by IR) are produced in limited quantities :P.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...
