The flexi fare pricing of railway tickets in three premium trains is on an “experimental basis“, senior officials of the railway ministry said on Thursday, as parties criticised the hike and demanded its roll back. “Flexi fare pricing is on experimental basis,“ an official said. “We will check what the impact of the flexi fare pricing on the Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto Express is and then a decision would be taken after study of the impact on passengers,“ he added. The officer said the three trains together ferry only about .6% of the total 2.3 crore passengers that the Railways carries every day.“We run about 12,000 passenger trains everyday, this flexi fare pricing is implemented only on 152 trains,“ he said. The officer said the flexi pricing move was based on the travel experience of passengers on select trains that are highly patronised.

Experiments !!!!! It is similar to that of Adolf Hitler who kept the Jews in concentration camps for experiments and termination.

Very good.....once the experiment is completed then railway should refund that extra charged money to the passengers. As railway has increased the fare on experimental basis so passengers have paid the money on experimental basis.

It seems there is a rogue officer in the Railway Board who time and again brings this dirty idea of increasing fares on premium basis. It has been proved by super flop show of Premium trains that patronage for these type of fare increases is not encouraging. Moreover India Railways is a social organization formed to provide cheap travels to distant travellers. But under pressure from some rogue lobby, this organization has deviated. If profit making is the motive then privatise Railways and let Friends of the lobby charge exorbitant fares to make profitable organizations. We talk of development in railways but nothing is seen on the ground reality. Only in newspapers and Feku media one can hear railways achieving speed of 500 kmph. Still today Aam aadmin cannot get a confirm ticket in SL/3AC. Trains run on average speed of 60 kmph. Still Delhi Howrah takes 15 hours by Rajdhani...
and yet we talk of flying trains reaching one part of India to another in 12 hours. A dream of Railway Minister seen in broad day light. Railway has formed a fare fixing committee and what is it doing. What is the rational and logical inference of increasing fares on airlines basis. When airline fares are being fixed on the flight hours why not fix railway fares on time basis. The more the train takes, less should be the fare.

To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...
