INDORE: Four trains that operate out of Ratlam Division of the Western Railways are likely to have the newly-introduced LHB coaches. This comes at a time when the Indian Railways has decided to phase out conventional ac and non-ac coaches made by Integral Coaches Factory.
The trains include Kochuveli Weekly Express (19332), Indore -Yesvantpur Weekly Express (19301) and Nizamuddin Express (12415). Authorities are also considering introducing these coaches on Avantika Express (12962) as well.
"The new coaches are manufactured at the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala and Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. These

coaches are approximately 1.7 metres longer than the conventional ICF coaches," an official said. He added that this will also provide more seating capacity. With this, the number of seats on the trains will increase by about 150.
Officials said that increased seating capacity will help them ease the rush of passengers in these trains. A large number of people travel on these trains from Ratlam Division.
The coaches come with additional berths - 78 berths in sleeper class instead of 72, 24 in first AC instead of 20, 54 in second AC instead of 46 and 72 in third AC instead of (72). Also there will be 100 seats in the general compartment instead of 90 in conventional coaches, they said.
LHB coaches are made of stainless steel and aluminium making them lighter as compared to conventional rakes. "These new coaches will have more stainless steel and that is why they will weigh lesser than the conventional coaches. This will enable the trains to run faster," a source said.
The coaches will have modular interiors, lighting will be integrated into the ceiling and wider windows. The improved suspension system of LHB coaches ensures more comfort for passengers as compared to conventional rakes. LHB coaches are designed in such a manner so that they can travel up to speeds of 160-180 km/h
"They will not flip over during a collision as they are lighter," an official said.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
