CHENNAI: When city resident S Sivakumar arrived at Chennai Central on Sunday morning to board a train he saw a live demonstration of how food is packed and served to people at the station. An employee of a catering stall on platform 2 had brought sambar in a plastic bucket layered with a black plastic cover used for carrying garbage and was filling it in aluminium foil pouches meant for passengers.Sivakumar immediately shot the event and posted it on social networking websites and tagged railway officials, including Chennai Divisional Railway Manager (DRM). The post said he complained to an Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) officials at the station. I think indirectly railways is giving a message.
If you need better quality food , pay more !! Hence the tie ups with Mcdonalds etc and other big food chains to help passengers get better quality food

Passengers are so desperate for freshly cooked good quality food during journey, that they are readily willing to pay more if the quality is guaranteed. Tie up with Mac Donalds etc is a good step, but they too have to be kept on tenter hooks, else complacency creeps in.
