Gaya: Grand Chord Passengers’ Association, the organisation engaged in promoting the interests of Magadh region rail users rue their lot as none of their long-pending demands have been fulfilled.
DK Jain, president of the association, in a letter addressed to railway minister Suresh Prabhu has expressed disappointment over continued neglect of the region by the railways, despite Gaya being a place of international importance. Jain has also reiterated the long-pending demands of the passengers’ body.
The most important demand of the association pertains to the introduction of either a Jan Shatabdi Express or
a double-decker train between Gaya and Kolkata. The demand has been made in view of the ever-growing volume of passenger traffic on Gaya-Kolkata route.
The letter said that great effort was required as new services can be provided with a single rake. The distance between Gaya and Kolkata was only 458 km and not more than 6 hours are required leaving enough time for rake maintenance.
The double decker train, it may be recalled used to run between Dhanbad and Kolkata but the service was discontinued due to its becoming commercially non-viable. No such constraints are there in the case of Gaya as unlike Dhanbad, there are not too many trains available for Kolkata.
Besides the introduction of Jan Shatabadi or double decker train between Gaya and Kolkata, the association has also demanded four fold increase in the frequency of nearly half-a-dozen weekly trains. The trains are Gaya-Delhi Gharib Rath, Gaya-Chennai Express, Kamakhya Express and Nagpur-bound Deekscha Bhumi Express.
For quite sometime, the passengers’ body had also been demanding rescheduling of the Gaya-Chennai Express to convert the present two days and one night journey into two nights and one day journey thereby saving the precious one full working day for rail users. As of now, the train starts in the morning both from Gaya and Chennai. The body demands rescheduling so that the train may leave Gaya and Chennai in the evening instead of morning hours.
The association also complained that the Gaya quota in several long distance trains passing through Gaya including all the four Rajdhani Express trains (originating from Howrah, Ranchi, Sealdah and Buhneshwar) was highly inadequate and needs revision.

Its true GAYA needs Jan Satabdi Express or Extention of Dhanbad - Howrah Double Decker train till Gaya so that the vacant seat can be filled. International Passengers will also get benefited with this and local residents too.
Saath mein Rajendrar Nagar(Patna) - Howrah Express also should be diverted via Gaya atleast 3 days in a week and other 4 days via its original route so that a night train for Howrah will be there from Gaya.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
