A ‘smart’ party paid Rs 50,000 in cash to get Rajdhani train ticket for six persons
Following fresh directives by the Union Government about acceptance of currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 demolition at railway ticket reservation counters across the nation, a huge was witnessed at such counters of Indian Railways in city. The high networth individuals (HNIs) chose to encash the sizeable stock of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 on purchasing higher class travel tickets. With Railways being given time till November 11 to accept the above mentioned currency, people hit upon a brain wave to book such high end tickets. The plan, as learnt, is that a railway reservation ticket has validity of three months so those who
booked their ticket will cancel it within one month and then legally show the remaining money as earnings.
Since early morning passenger reservation system (PRS) at Nagpur station and Ajni witnessed unusually high footfalls. People were boocking tickets in higher class for no apparent reason but to get rid Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 currency notes. One of the first tickets booked was from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Secunderabad in Rajdhani Express for five to six persons and the ‘smart’ party did not blink twice while paying Rs 50,000 in cash for the same.
With surge in pricing in place, the tickets sold at late stage are priced nearly 30% extra at the end price and hence the such high fare. This set the trend for the day as booking clerks were flooded with applications for booking in second class and first class tickets in Rajdhani and Duronto and such trains where surge pricing is in place.
But at many windows the railway staffers faced problem as people deposited Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 notes to get back lower denomination notes which were short in circulation. This led to delay in booking of tickets at many places. And this trend was not limited to just Nagpur but according to information was witnessed throughout the country.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
