भोपाल. आगामी दिनों में विभिन्न रूट पर चलने वाली शताब्दी एक्सप्रेस श्रेणी की गाडि़यों के स्थान पर टेल्गों ट्रेन ले लेगी और इनकी स्पीड़ शताब्दी एक्सप्रेस के मुकाबले लगभग 40 किमी प्रति घंटा ज्यादा होगी, इन्हें अधिकतम 180 किमी प्रतिघंटे की स्पीड तक चलाया जा सकेगा। अप्रेल के अंत तक हबीबगंज शताब्दी को टेल्गागें से रिप्लेस किये जाने की संभावना जताई जा रही है ।
विदेशी कंपनियों से 11 रैक टेल्गों के खरीदने की डील
रेल मंत्रालय के अधिकारी के अनुसार विदेशी कंपनियों से टेल्गों के 11 रैक खरीदने की डील होगयी
है जल्द ही इनकी सप्लाई रेलवे को मिल जायेगी। टेल्गों ट्रेनों के रैक, शताब्दी के मुकाबले हल्के होने के कारण जल्द गति पकड़ सकेगी। शताब्दी जहां 8 घंटे में दिल्ली से भोपाल की यात्रा तय करेगी, वही टेल्गों से यह यात्रा लगभग 6 घंटे में पूरी हो जायेगी । अधिकारियों के अनुसार पहले चरण में शताब्दी श्रेणी की गाडि़यांे को बदला जायेगा और इसके बाद राजधानी व संपर्क क्रांन्ति और भोपाल एक्सप्रेस जैसी आईएसओ गाडि़यों का नम्बर आयेगा।
ट्रॉयल दिल्ली.जयपुर के बीच हुआ
सितंबर में दिल्ली से जयपुर के बीच टेल्गो ट्रेन का ट्रॉयल सफल रहा है। उस दौरान टेल्गो को 180 तक की रफ्तार तक चलाया जा चुका है। टेल्गो ट्रेन के इस ट्रायल में सफर करने वाली टीम में जयपुर मंडल के इंजीनियरिंग विभाग के अधिकारी एके शर्मा ने भी मौजूद थे। उन्होंने बताया कि इस दौरान टेल्गो का सफर काफी सुरक्षित था। अच्छी स्पीड के साथ उसने दिल्ली से जयपुर तक की दूरी आसानी से तय कर ली थी। टेल्गो में कम झटके लगते हैं।
चेयरकार जैसे होंगे रैक
पहले चरण हमें टेल्गों के रैक चेयरकार श्रेणी के मंगाये जा रहे हैं इसलिये इन्हें शताब्दी श्रेण्ीाी की गाडि़यों से रिप्लेस करना आसान होगा और साथ ही आठ घंटे के अन्दर का यात्रा जिन रूट पर पूरा होता है, वहां पर भी टेल्गों ट्रेन चलायी जायेगी।
शताब्दी के रैक से आधे से भी कम वजन
टेल्गों ट्रेन के एक कोच का वनज लगभग 14 टन है जबकि वर्तमान में शताब्दी श्रेणी गाकडि़यों के एक कोच का वजन करीब 35 टन है। टेल्गों में चेयरकार श्रेणी में 36 सीटें लगाई गयी है जबकि एक्जीक्यूटिव श्रेणी के कोच में सीटों की संख्या 20 है शताब्दी में चेयरकार श्रेणी में सीटों की संख्या 102 है और एक्जीक्यूटिव श्रेणी में 34 सीटें हैं।

Problem ICF coach se nahi hai. Problem uska coupling se hai. If the rake just had CBC couplings, then the coaches would not have rolled off, preventing a lot of casualties. Even if IR does not give LHB coaches to all trains, they should at least convert the existing ICF rakes to CBC rakes. That will guarantee a similar performance to LHB coaches in most common derailments.
Talgo would probably be even safer. Talgo coaches are made of extremely durable Aluminum alloys which are lighter than the steel used in our LHB coaches, but are equally strong. And their bogie-less arrangement means that coaches will not roll about randomly during derailments. In fact, their wheel arrangement
makes sure that the train does not move laterally. Also don't forget that the coaches are designed for high speeds. They will be designed to withstand high speed derailments and impacts by default. Don't let their small size fool you!!

It was not a failure exactly. The experiment was shelved as there was a call for converting all trains to LHB. It was one of several experiments tried out when IR failed to come up with a good self-generating system for LHB coaches. Several experiments were tried out to incorporate the safety features from LHB coaches in to normal coaches like CBC couplings and H-LHB coaches. And like a lot of other experiments, this was abandoned in between to focus on another half-cooked project.
CBC couplings will always give heavy jerks compared to screw coupling, no matter the type of coach. But it is not a unsolvable problem. LHB's give lesser jerks as the coupling has been suitably
modified. And similarly H-LHB coaches ( which use ICF bogies) were also modified to reduce CBC jerks. All the MG rolling stock from ICF also have CBC couplings ( it's just a different kind of CBC coupling). It is just a matter of pursuing it till the end.
