Garib Rath trains are not like by IR for its lesser revenue realisation. It has 12.5% more seats with 2-3% rebate in normal ACIII charge. Where as for Rajdhani train fare is 20%higher. Both trains have the generator cars at ends which is a very costly affair. Paxs too does not like side middle berth
If many GRs are running at sub-optimal loads, then why not to attach ACII/ACI or even SL coach and carry more paxs and increase the revenue?
Why to lose paxs and revenue only for the sake of...
more... a brand, Let most of the trains have almost all classes, so that paxs of all classes have maximum number of options for their train journey. In this way maximum occupancy can be ensured for maximum number of trains.
Trains should be categorised on the basis of speed and priority. there may be following classes
(1) 130-160kmph class, all ac LHB or better technology, superior interiors/comfort
(2) 110-130kmph class, ac/non ac LHB coaches, better aesthetics/comfort
(3) 110kmph,M/E,SF exp- ac/non ac ICF coaches
(4) 90-110kmph- passenger/ emu trains-ICF coaches
Composition of coaches may be seating/ berth or a combination depending on daytime or overnight journey.
