Railway divisional headquarters: ‘clear proposal for infrastructure development’ -- For Gulbarga
Amarnath Patil, MLC, has urged Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to clear the proposal for the development of the infrastructure for the proposed railway divisional headquarters in Kalaburagi at a cost of Rs. 90 crore which is pending with the Railway Board.
In a memorandum submitted to Mr. Prabhu during his visit to New Delhi, Mr. Patil pointed out that the State government had handed over 43.2 acres required for the construction of facilities.
Patil said that the work on the development of the second entry from platform number 4 of the Gulbarga Railway station which is almost complete had been stopped due to lack of funds. He asked the Minister to intervene in the matter and release the required funds to complete the work. He also requested the Minister to expedite the completionof the Fiat Coach Factory coming at Yadgir a costof Rs. 15 crore on 150-acre land.
Referring to the introduction of the 3 AC-tier express train Humsafar to cater to the needs of the middle class passengers, Mr. Patil demanded that the Minister introduce the train from Kalaburagi to Bengaluru to reduce the rush of passengers.
Mr. Patil demanded that the Solapur-Yeshwantpur Express should start from Gulbarga Railway Station as passengers from Solapur were bare minimum and the maximum booking is done from Kalaburagi.
He also demanded that the Minister provide adequate funds to complete the ongoing Bidar-Kalaburagi new rail line, Wadi-Gadag new line, take up Gulbarga/Wadi-Alamatti rail line, Munirabad-Mehbobbnagar rail line and doubling of the line from Kalaburagi and Solapur.
In another memorandum submitted to Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Mr. Patil said that there was a need to improve the national highway link between Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka for the overall economic development of the region.
The State government had sent a proposal for upgrading the existing State highways to be upgraded as national highways and this should be favourably considered.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
