The term ‘anti-national’ has found its way into one of the official press releases issued by the Indian Railways. Pune’s Divisional Railway Manager B K Dadabhoy used it to describe the actions of three women, whose only offence was being part of a protest group that held a train for 45 minutes.
On Monday morning, around 100 people participated in a protest demanding the Railway authorities to operate the Deccan Queen from platform number one, as has been the case for several decades until recently. Now, the train departs from platform number five due to “operational compulsions”. This has upset the Queen’s regular passengers, and they have been demanding that it depart from Platform No. 1, like in the old days.

protesters resorted to pulling the chain in their bid to stop the train from leaving the platform. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) identified three women, all of them government servants aged between 50 to 55, travelling to Mumbai from Pune every weekday for work, and produced them before a magistrate.
“Such anti-national activities won’t be tolerated at any cost and action would be initiated as per legal provisions. The commuters are requested not to take law in their own hands and co-operate with the administration in seamless plying of the trains,” Dadabhoy was quoted as saying in a press note issued through the public relations office of Pune Division.

The decision to shift the departure platform of Deccan Queen was taken after the authorities decided to attach an additional coach to several trains that previously used to arrive at platform 1 including Jhelum Express, Azad Hind Express and Patliputra Express.
All these trains have now become 24 coach trains.Among the six platforms on Pune Railway Station, only Platform 1 has the capacity to host a 24-coach rake.

According to me, demand by passengers are right.
From last 75 years, it was departing from PF 1.
The main thing is more than 50% commuters are daily travelers which are leaving from Pune attending office in Mumbai and coming back to Pune in the night.
If the train departs from PF 1, they can easily catch it even though they reached station little

bit late as direct entry to PF 1 from multiple entrance.

A small correction PF #3 has capacity to handle 24 coaches but not PF #2, loco standings are bifurcated from PF #2. However PF#6 is also getting ready to handle 24 coaches.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...
