* Rush is a result of the population density of the town or city. Population density is highest in Mumbai and we see maximum rush at Mumbai.
* Tokyo is the most populated city (about 4 crores or 30% of Japan's population) along with very high population density, so they employ professional "pushers" who ensure that the paxs board the crowded trains with automatic doors. Such pushers may be required in Mumbai suburban if auto closing doors are used.
* But the way Japan handles its rush is commendable. Although pushed into
crowded trains, speed of trains is high, the time required to commute is less and punctuality is very high. IR need to learn from Japanese railways, how to effectively manage rush.
