Construction work of Bullet train to be completed by 2022-2023 PM Modi and Japan's Abe to lay foundation next month Bullet train will run at a speed of 320 km per hour India will get its first bullet train in next six years. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Wednesday said that the construction of India's first bullet train project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will be completed by 2022-2023.
Prabhu said this while replying to a question in Lok Sabha.
Mumbai-Ahmedabad is No-5 busiest air route of India After Mum-Del, Del-Bang, Mumbai-Bang, Delhi-Kolkata with daily about 6000 paxs daily. This is the big source of paxs for the the HST. If HST could attract about 70-75% of traffic, as TGVs had done in France, 4500pax per day translated to about 6-8 trains. Journey time shall be very important for these paxs and a Mumbai-ADI nonstop aimed to do the journey in just less than 2 hrs may be vey successful.
There should be many types of services instead of just 2 types,...
On the subject of bullet trains, I recently went on a week-long trip to Japan with family and had an opportunity to travel on the Shinkansen (Hikari 523) from Odawara to Shin-Osaka. It was mind-boggling to see how they run 175+ mph trains at intervals of 3 minutes at clockwork precision. And this includes overtakes that happen precisely to the second. This is Japanese precision at its furious best. Please take a look at their timetable for Tokyo to Osaka trains and beyond: click here
The Nozumi has the least amount of stops followed by the Hikari. Then there is Kodama halting at all stations - a passenger bullet train :-)
