AGRA: At a time when the entire country is on a high alert on the occasion of the Independence day, an Indian Army soldier utilised the sensitive situation and made a hoax threat call to stop a train he feared to miss.
In the intervening night between Saturday and Sunday, the New Delhi-Bengaluru Rajdhani Express was halted and searched for nearly two hours, after the Delhi control room received a bomb threat call. The combing operation started at 11 pm and the train only started after 12:45 am. No explosive was found.
when police traced the hoax caller ID, they located him in the same train. Police arrested the man and questioned him.
The accused, identified as Naik Mohammad Ali, the jawan of 27 Air Defence regiment, is posted in Jalandhar. He was going to Secunderabad, his home, to settle his marital dispute.
According to Manikant Sharma, station officer of GRP Agra Cantonment station, "We have arrested the jawan and booked him under IPC section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty). After creating tension, the jawan misbehaved with railway staff during questioning."
Divisional commercial manager of Agra division, Sanchit Tyagi, said, "The jawan was coming from Jalandhar. Since there was no direct train for Secunderabad, he had to board another train from Delhi.
"After reaching Delhi on Saturday evening, the jawan got confused between New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin station. Finally when someone told him that his train will depart from Hazrat Nizamuddin in a few minutes, the jawan plotted to delay the train by making a hoax call. By the time police reacted, the train had left the platform and the jawan managed to board the train," he said.
Since the train had no halt between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Agra cantt, the GRP decided to search the train at Agra.
On condition of anonymity, a military official said, "It was a very unfortunate incident. The jawan was already in stress due to his marital issues. The confusion in Delhi about the railway stations further prompted him to take wrong decision, and that too ahead of the Independence day."
"We hope he would be out on bail in next two-three days. Later on, the Army will conducts its own probe," he added

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
