This train was re-routed in 1998 by the KR route.
But before that the Link Express via KJM from Mangalore/Cochin was running from when?
On IRI only the re-routed date is mentioned as inaugural date, not the actual inaugural date of this train.

It was started as the Bombay V.T (Now called CST) - Cochin (CHTS)/Mangalore bi-weekly superfast express on April 2nd, 1987. Within a year, it was made a tri-weekly service. It was a CR train and the rake was bifurcated at Shoranur into two separate trains heading to Cochin Harbor terminus and Mangalore. The UP train used to depart from CHTS/MAQ on Mon/Wed/Fri arriving at BBVT on Wed/Fri/Sun.
After the opening of the KR, it was diverted via the new route and converted to a daily service.
