With the aim of providing safe journey to the train passenger in the present foggy conditions, the authorities of North Central Railway (NCR) has decided to once again counsel the loco pilots (LP) and assistant loco pilots (ALP) about the rules for running the trains in fog.
In a meeting, chaired by GM, NCR, M C Chauhan, on Saturday, authorities have stressed that night inspections by officers and supervisors should be intensified and short-cuts in train operations should be assiduously avoided.
Besides, issues like reduction in the number of unwarranted alarm chain pulling
cases, reduction of 'signal-bobbing' cases, improvement in the road surface of level crossings, including ensuring presence of proper speed breakers on approach roads of level crossing gates etc was also discussed.
The officials attending the meeting also mulled over the issue that the visibility of level crossings should not be hampered because of any reason and cattle 'tabelaas', running unauthorizedly on railway land should be removed.
The meeting also paid homage to Babu Ram, an official who recently expired while conducting inspection of railway track.
While addressing the serious issue that of prevention of rail fractures and weld failures, Principal Chief Engineer (NCR), said that the location of bolt holes in the tracks has to be perfect in order to ensure that improper transference of stresses on the tracks does not take place. It was decided in the meeting that cold weather patrolling should be ensured strictly as stipulated in 'manual of instructions for maintenance of long welded rails'. It was also decided that it would be ensured that the quality of graphite-grease being used to lubricate the fittings in tracks is as per RDSO specifications.

its better to give a day off for daily trains to overcome delays (previous years pattern)
for weeklies and biweeklies make sure run with less delay if rsa partner is north bound or east bound etc

To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...
