The Telangana government allocated ₹400 crore under the head of grants-in-aid in the annual State Budget for 2018-19 for extension of Hyderabad Metro Rail up to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, as part of the project’s second phase.
This is apart from the regular ₹200 crore allocation as loan for HMR phase-I.
The second phase is expected to cost over ₹14,000 crore, which would be borne by the State and Central governments. Connectivity to RGIA from Biodiversity Junction, Gachibowli, would be part of the project.
budget also has a provision of ₹50 crore for the ongoing Multi Modal Suburban Rail Transport System (MMTS).
These apart, allocations have also been made for Musi River Front Development and Hyderabad Road Development, to be transferred directly to the corporations established for the respective projects.
The provision for Musi River Front Development remains the same as of current year’s budget, at ₹377.35 crore, though the allocations for 2017-18 were later revised to ₹316 crore.
The allotment for the Hyderabad Road Development has been raised substantially from the previous year’s ₹377.35 crore to ₹566 crore.
Funds to the tune of ₹250 crore have been repeated from the last budget as loan to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority for development work, as also ₹235 crore for Outer Ring Road project. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has been granted ₹750 crore as loan, as during the last budget.
